Rope Lighting for 2000 Magna??

Yahoo Message Number: 71697
Purchased a 2000 CC Magna. Dealer agreed to replace the rope lighting as 5 or 6 of the individual lights were out. Problem, he has been unable to locate rope lighting that is the same width that will fit in the channel around the window boxes. He says all the lighting is wider than the original and will not fit our 2000 model coach.

Any solutions??

Thanks,
Tammy

P.S. Will travel to Oregon in a couple of weeks to pick up our new to us coach. Really excited. BTW the coach is a 36 ft. with the 385 Cat engine.

Check with Kevin Waite, a fountain of knowledge on CC's. He offered to get me some of the correct rope. He is in Oregon and will install.

Tammy,

This is the oem for the lights. They will make them custom for you. Just measure the ones you have and give them the measurements and they will ship them to you. They still have the incandescant lights but they also make a led light that looks like incandescants. It is more expensive but has a lot longer life span. The plastic they now use has some small ribs on the outside of it but it unnoticeable when installed. They are a little stiffer and slightly larger diameter because of the ribs but I just heated them up to about 200 degs. and they were very pliable and fit right in the grooves.
I just took my coach in to Warren Caterpillar to get A ESTIMATE on getting the turbo repaired as I had a blown gasket between the turbo and exhaust manifold and there was a Newmar next to mine that was getting a new Cat engine. The owners had just purchased it in Arizona and didn't get a Oil analysis before hand and the air filter system had been compromised in some manner and was allowing dirt to get into the engine. They made it to Tulsa. The Engine cylinder walls were shot. Getting an analysis on their fluids first(oil, transmission, antifreeze, ect..) could saved them over $25K. I got a phone call from The Cat dealership yesterday and they failed to close the door good on my coach allowing the steps to stay out and the tech ripped my steps off and busted the fiberglass around them pulling it into the shop. I went up there to examine the damage and they had my engine disassembled, turbo and exhaust manifold was off when I got there. Hope today goes better than yesterday. Good Luck! Kevin Burns
