Battaries Status

With 50 amps shore power the battieries show 100% charged. When the 50 amps shore power is removed the battieries drop to 72% in less than 5 minutes then they start going back up to over 90 % again in less than 5 minutes. The 50 amps shore power has been off for 1 hour and the battieries show 95%. The inverter is on with very little load on the system. Is this normal are the battieres weak. These house battieries have not been changed they are 7 years old. Thank all in advance Lee Ramage 2004 Intrigue 11784

7 year old batteries and this is your first issue. You are one lucky guy.

You can do a load test on each battery, or do a check on each cell by volt meter or hydrometer. But short answer, after seven years, time for new ones.

Lee, this sounds normal to me. If you watch your remote, you will see it vary in percentage quite a bit. It depends on then the "sample" of state of charge is read. I think the remote checks every 10-15 minutes.

My question is why do you have the inverter on as it is a huge power hog even while doing nothing. If you do not need AC power, turn it off.
My 8D Lifelines were installed early in '04 and are still going strong but I am pretty careful on how they get used. I do power a freezer in the basement on 12VDC when dry canping so I start the night with a 95% charge and in the morning I might be down to 88%.
