Freedom 458 Inverter Issue

Yahoo Message Number: 72306
Hi Friends, The Prev. owner had a new Freedom 2000 Inverter installed in June of 07. A few weeks ago the Charger would come on by its self. I unplug the Freedom Panel and charger stays off. Orderd a new Panel with 25 foot Harness and connected directly and still does the same thing. I know when you loose power the charger comes on like its supposed to. I ran this by Xantrex and the tech never heard of this? Any Thoughts? I have solar's charging and prefer to leave off the Charger. The worse case is I will just unplug the freedom panel. Feel free to E-Mail off group. Thanks Ken 99 Allure 30356

Ken,

I assume you mean the Inverter comes on when you lose power which is the way it's suppose to work. The charger function would only work when on shore power or generator. There should be a on/off switch on the Inverter itself and that switch should be in the off position if your controlling the Inverter through the remote. So, if that switch is on, even if you turned off the remote, the Inverter would still be active.

Ken,

The charger should not come on unless you turn it on.

You have a good Point. But Buying a new Panel with the 25 foot harness and plugging into the Inverter still does the smae thing. The Inverter is turned off and it does stay off un less I switch it on. My wife got all over me as in my other life I was a Tech for Cat and could fix anything at that time. Again if I unplug the Panel the Inverter charger does stay off as this is why until I reconnect the panel. I bought a new panel and harness. Process of Ele. Again same problem on new Harness and panel. I got a hit that I should un hook all A/C and D.C. to the inverter and I did this as it should reset the inverter but to no Avail it does the same thing. Also got a hit on Checking Grounds and Cleanning the Battery Terminals and I did Clean the Battery Terminals but Will check for Grounds and loose A/C Wiring at the Inverter. The funny thing is using a stopwatch then turning off the Charge Funtion it turns its self on in less then an hour or several seconds, Like it has a mind of its own I will get back to the form on any findings. A friend said replace the inverter but It works fine otherwise. Still open for Sugg. Thanks Ken. 99 Allure 30356
