Rust on undercarriage

Yahoo Message Number: 5329
We purchased a "new" 2002 Allure last Nov. It had 5k miles on it and we were told it was taken to various rallies as a show coach, thus the amount of miles. We were not told that it was mfg. early 2001. Since it was new, it never occured to us to look at the undercarriage. Recently I had to get under the coach to unhook a bracket on the steps so that I could retract them manually as the switch didn't activate (it didn't activate because of corrosion). I was astounded at the amount of rust on every metal part under the entire coach. Has anyone found this on their coach and if so, has it caused any problems?

-KEN, I HAD THE SAME THING ON MY 2000,WITH A LOT OF WORK A WIRE BRUSH, SAND PAPER,&time, it all came right off.I FIRST WASH IT WITH A HIGHT PRESS, WATER, WHICH TOOK MOST OF IT OFF.THEN DID WHAT I HAD TO DO TO GET IT CLEAN, IN THE FRW.UPPER PART, IF?????LIKE MINE IT DID NOT HAVE MUCH OF ANYTHING ON IT.I PUT 3-M UNTERCOAT ON IT. IT TOOK ME 10 CANS TO DO THE JOB.3-M HAS TWO KINDS OF UNTERCOAT, ONE IS FLEXIBLE- 0NE IS NOT. I USED THE FLEXIBLE ONE, MY UNIT IS 3YEARS OLD NOW, NO MORE RUST, BUT I WASH IT OFF TO KEEP IT CLEAN....GOOD LUCK, DANIn Country-Coach-Owners@yahoogroups.com, "susanhavener" wrote:
