generator voltage readout

Left park today. Unplugged 50amp shore power but realized my thermostat was still on with zone 1 & 2 still in cool auto mode. Roof airs were not running at the time I unplugged. Stopped for lunch, powered up generator to run roof air for my dogs but the air failed to start up. I noticed that my AC output display was not reading 120 volts/ 60 hertz. Got home and plugged in and started roof air ok, read good AC output of 120 volts/ 60 hertz. Checked breaker on my 10 kw power-tech generator and reset breaker on back side of it. Thru 50 amp breaker in main distribution panel and all three individual roof air breakers. Started generator still no read out on AC display and no roof air via generator power. Any thoughts from everyone would be great.

Could be the transfer switch, the genset, or the wiring from the genset to the transfer switch...
With shore power unplugged and genset running, check the genset voltage at the input terminals of the transfer switch... If you have voltage on the input terminals, check the output terminals of the transfer switch... If you have voltage on the input terminals, but not on the output terminals, problem is the transfer switch... If you don't have voltage on the input terminals of the transfer switch with the genset running, problem is the genset or the wiring between the genset and the transfer switch...

Thanks for the reply Buck. Checked terminals and it turns out that the tranfer switch is bad. Specifically the time delay board. Todd engineerring is the manufacturer of my transfer switch which I am aware that they do not exist anymore. Have to make decision to purchase new transfer switch with internal surge protector or transfer switch with external surge protection. For internal protection was looking at purchasing TRC 50 amp hardwire model #41260.
Transfer switch with external protection undecided yet.
Any thoughts from all would be appreciated

Todd has been purchased by another company and they supply parts for the same thing. Forget the name but they told me how to get a replacement solenoid for my Todd transfer switch. I think I used Google and the Todd part number on the unit in my coach and by some searching found the new company. They offered the time delay board for about $30 as I remember. Lots easier and cheaper then replacing the transfer switch itself. Might be some of the supplies on this forum can help with the relay board. Think this is the company. Might give them a call.

You might consider calling Iota to see if replacement time delay boards are available...If the contacts are in good shape (not burned or pitted) on your Todd transfer switch, you could save some $$ by replacing the time delay board...
As Mikey pointed out on another thread, Surge protector components tend to degrade with use... Considering the age of your present surge protector, it would be nice to have a new transfer switch with internal surge protection if you have the cash available...

Thanks again everyone for the informatiom. I had to make a decision today because of upcoming trip. I decided to replace transfer switch with built in surge protector ( 2600 joules at 76,400 amps ). Was a little nervous about putting in a new board in a 13 year old tranfer switch. Hope I made right decision. Went with the TRC 50 amp Model # 41260. Again, hope I made good choice.
