The entry steps of my 06 Inspire are stuck in the closed position any suggestions what to do.

If you have Kwikee steps like what is on my 2004 Inspire, the problem could be with the door switch located on the right side of the passenger seat. Activate the switch to a new position and try to operate the steps. On some occasions this switch will stick in the middle position not making contact.
On my Inspire the door spring operated contactors for the steps have failed because of broken springs inside one or more of the contactors. Test the contactors depressing by hand. If you find a broken spring, replace it with G-20 ball point pin spring which you can purchase at your local Walmart store.
It is also critical that these spring loaded contactors be cleaned with 400 grit emory paper on a regular basis. A build up of dirt and grime on these contactors will on some occasions cause an open circuit.

I have also had the frame side of the contactors short out to the coach chassis. This can be seen by looking under the coach at the back side of the contactor.
On most occasions the frame side contactors are the source of the problem.

I believe there is a fuse for that in the electrical bay under the driver's seat.

I had the same problem several months ago and found a broken ground wire inside the entry door. Fuse under drivers seat was OK.

There are a bunch of possibilities for your step malfunction. The Manual has a troubleshooting procedure that actually works, or at least it did for me. You can download the procedure from their website if you don't have it. It could be anything from a fuse to a controller or motor, mine was the controller (first time), door switch the second.

Mine failed and it was the motor. Easy to replace if it is.

I finally fixed my step problem, after going through all the test and nothing worked so I pulled the motor out and retested it and it worked. The problem was I had put step covers on the steps and I think that made the step to tight in the closed position and the motor is not strong enough to open the steps.
