Water leak from my Norcold Refer

Yahoo Message Number: 75273
Just finished a 7 week trip and have had a water leak coming from the back of my Norcold fridge. I removed my outside panel and noticed puddling in the front corner and trailing into the lower bay. I was a month in the east in humid conditions. I did not change any of the switches that deal with humidity didnt remember exactly how they work. The ice maker did not work during the trip much seemed to freeze up. We defrosted the fridge once as it seems to need it every 3 to 4 weeks.
I was wondering if there was any connection to the icemaker not working and the leak.
Not sure if I have ever had the fridge serviced at least not recently otherwise the fridge worked well.

Appreciate your ideas

Thanks!

Gerald,

I have a 2008 Intrigue and had a similar leak from the water line of my ice maker. I first notisted water on the floor around the fridge and then water dripping on the ground outside the coach. We went to the outside panel and checked the white water line that goes to the ice maker, mine was maybe 1/4 inch tubing and it had a pin size hole which was puddling water in that area as well. I first shut off the ice maker in the coach by lifting the icemaker wire type bar in the freezer to the off position, then there is a small shut off knob at the end of that water line, again in the outside area behind the panel, I turned it off and then had the tube replaced, turned the valve back on and put the wire in the freezer down to the on position and all was fine, I took a small towel and tried to dry the puddled area behind the panel and it still took about a day for the water to stop dripping from the outside of the coach. If your 2003 is the same as mine this may be your problem. By the way I just helped a RV guy do this and it seemed like a simple fix.
Hope this helps.

Gerald, most likely the plastic water tubing which has a "heater wire" wrapped around it to prevent freezing has finally split in one or more places.
I replaced mine with copper tubing which Dometic should have used in my opinion, but of course it costs more money. This requires the refrigerator to be pulled into the coach and set on blocks to repair.
If you unwrap the black plastic covering going up the tubing you'll no dought find the cracks in the plastic tubing. For now shut of the water valve inside the outside panel that feeds water up to the Ice Maker.

It's a two man job, one has to be pretty strong.

Gerald, Sounds like the small (1/4") plastic water line on the back of the fridge froze and cracked. The one from the water valve to the ice maker has a heater wire inside the cover to stop freezing. Switch is inside the door on a panel. Skip...2002 Intrigue #11329

If you ice maker line is leaking replace it with cooper tubing.
The old plastic tube becomes brittle, After the need to replace the plastic tub a 2nd time I decided to replace with cooper. Carefully split the rubbersleeve on old tube because this is the freeze protection for you ice maker tube. You will have to have the refrig pulled out to get to the old tube. (Two man job.)
