Replacing font TV

We have a 2005 Allure and I am thinking of replacing the Panasonic TV with a digital LED. Has anyone ever done it themselves and if so is it difficult? Also any suggestions on a size or brand that would fit without modifying the cabinet?

I'm in the same boat. My Panasonic seems to going out so the need is real for me. Most suggestions are for a Samsung. I have not found a any that would fit without modification. Jim @ CC has given an estimate of about $600.00 to make the modification. I have been looking at a 40" model that would require modifications

We are in the process of replacing the original JVC (mfg date 8/03) and my wife, after an extensive search, was able to find a 28" LCD HD unit from Costco that has exactly the same exterior dimensions as the JVC, so no cabinet modifications will be required. The speakers are even along the bottom just like the JVC. I am now addressing how to affix the unit inside the cabinet. Next will be to hook it up and get it working. So, keep looking.

Our Panasonics are about the same age. My 32" in the front has a great picture when first turned on, but fades to completely dark after about 30 minutes. If I just leave the TV on the picture comes back after another 20 minutes and stays on until I turn the set off.
One of these days the set will probably just completely fail.
Davis cabinets gave me a ballpark quote of $1500 to do the wood work required to install a 40" led Samsung. They work with Innovative Coach, who will do the install on Davis property. They special order a led Samsung with a metal back and the set is priced at $1200.
Seems like a lot of money, however the work would probably be first class.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I considered taking the Panasonic to a Tv repair shop, and not mess with the cabinet.
If you come up with a good solution to this problem, I would like to know what you did.

I just replaced the 32 inch Panisonic, The opening in the cabinet is 22H x 39W. I found a 40 inch Samsung LED at Costco that measured 22H x37 wide. Model# UN40D5005BF. This is as close of an exact fit as I could find. Be careful removing the Panisonic as it is a Plasma TV and is twice as heavy as the Samsung. Install time is about 4 hours and very easy.

I have mounted the speaker , behind the TV, so as not to be seen from the inside of the coach. This way, I do not have to run the Tuner/Amp to hear the TV. The only issue , is that the speakers, face down, and the sound is not easily transmitted into the coach. The Sharp- Aquos TV says these speakers are 4 Ohm. Most home systems are 8 Ohms. I have been recently told by Anthony Gallo speakers, that an 8 Ohm speaker will work , it just has to be driven a little harder to get the sound, and I was assured by them that it will work. I saw the Anthony Gallo speakers in a Newell Coach, and they come in 4 and 5 inch sizes, and are pricey at 199 and 289 , respectively, for the speakers, plus you have to buy a mounting base. I have looked at Bose as the 2 little cubes, together , that they sell are only available , as part of a system, at around 700$. At any rate, I will try and find what can work and advise the group. I don't like watching regular TV through the Tuner/Amp, as in my view, it is harder to control the volume at low levels, and the compartment gets hot.

I purchased a Vizio LED/LCD monitor that has front mounted speakers. They work just fine. Also use the 26" screen for my laptop monitor at home.

I'm with you Ron. I don't want to power up the home theater for regular TV, especially while dry camping.
Another issue: I have found that the analog external sound output (RCA plugs, phone jack, etc) are being replaced with digital. I'm not smart enough yet to decipher "digital Dolby decoders" and optical cables, but it spells more current drains to me.
