Leaking Radiator

When the radiator went out on on my 06 Allure, I drove 60 miles to Buddy Gregg in Knoxville with water spewing out like a cloud of smoke. Several cars pulled up beside me waving frantically like I was on fire. I had to stop twice to add water, but I made it. At the campground I met a guy with a Monaco who had about the same experience, but said he didn't have any on board water so he used his gray water to refill his radiator. He drove it over 50 miles with gray water as his coolant. County Coach shipped in a new radiator and when I went back to B. Gregg four weeks later the guy in the Monaco was still there waiting on Monaco to ship him a new radiator. He was not a happy camper.

Someone had suggested to plug your leak with JB weld. At the race track in September, I blew part of a radiator and a pit mate had a product called Waterwelder by JB Weld. Specifically designed for plugging radiators (from the outside so you don't put crud through the block). Worked like a charm. Getting it off is much more of a challenge, but since your radiator is being replaced anyhow, it should make no difference.
After my experience at the track, I now carry a tube of the stuff in my tool kit.

Permatex makes a product called Spray and Seal. It works well also and may be a litter easier to apply. Whatever you do, just leave the radiator cap loose while you drive to the shop.
