External Air Fill

We have been parked for a while and the coach's air has blead down. The Compressed Air System section fo the User's Guide states that "The rear air system access coupler also permits compressed air to be introduced to the vehicular air system". When I connected an external compressor to that connector, nothing happened. I turned the ignition on to see if there was a solenoid preventing refilling the system but nothing changed. Are there conditions that have to be met by the system before air can be put in? If there is a stuck check valve, does anyone know where to look for it?
