Leak around top marker light

Yahoo Message Number: 76243
I believe I've traced a small leak to around one of the top marker lights. It appears that it has been "touched up" before with clear silicone. I was curious as to whether anyone has had this problem in the past and what remedies they used. My light, once removed, does not have any type of gasket around it. Was this the original installation or was their originally a gasket? Since it appears that clear silicone was used before, is there a better choice when re-sealing the light? Thanks in advance,

We've had several leaks "through" the marker lights and fixed the problem. Pull the light off and look at where the wires go through the fiberglass. There is (should be) a grommet the wires go through. Make sure the grommet is good and then seal around the grommet and the middle of the grommet with silicon. I then reseal around the light base with silicon just to make it look good. Solved our problems every time.
