TV Install Questions

For all you HD/TV whizzes: I am thinking about putting some LED's in my 2002 Magna.

1. How am I going to get an HDMI cable to the bedroom from the front. This seems pretty much impossible as the existing coax and RCA's run through the roof. Is there another way to get the signal from the Sat/DVR there?
2. I assume that the existing Radio Shack switch box (for front/rear/VCR) goes away. What does one replace it with for HD/HDMI switching? Or does one just delete that and make connections at the DVR?
3. I wired my existing TV to the Bose via a separate old DVD/DVR that has a hard disk in it (hard disk died but it still get the TV signal to the Bose). How does one hook up the new HD/SAT/DVR to the Bose without a separate DVR? Or am I going to need a new HD one?
4. Someone once posted something somewhere about mounting an LCD over the existing bedroom TV cabinet with some kind of hinged mount that allowed the LCD to swing away to use the cabinet as storage. If you read this, can you please get in touch?

First thing I would do is find the right audio/video processor that can handle two Zones and junk the bose., one 5.1 zone and second stereo zone that switches video and audio at the same time depending on the source, DVD, satellite. or cable and up convert the signal to 1080 for the two zones if necessary. Denon, Mcintosh, Yamaha, Pioneer, B&W, NAD and others do. Then run the signal down the walls underneath through the storage bays and back up to the bedroom TV. Its easy to run new wire for the new front 3 speakers, the new satelite speakers in the bedroom get their wires from below, too. The rear speakers for the surround system need to be mounted to fixed locations by- passing the slide in each case front and rear. An Oppo model 93 or 95 is the best disc source for the money. LED screens provide the best picture in less than ideal locations with high ambient light. Use your exsisting cabling for over air digital and in park conventional RF signal. Get rid of the radio shack passive switcher and find an active winegard unit surplus at Northwest RV supply just south of Eugene Oregon for RF switching. Some 03/04/05 CC have remote IR repeaters in the bed room to control units in the HIfi cabinet up front using your exsisting RF cables as conduits for the remote control signal. Maybe Northwest RV supply has those units, too. This is my idea, there are many other solutions. Remember running HDMI cables more than 2 meters can get expensive fast depending on how much data you intend to send to the displays. If you plan on send 1080P to the rear set, it isn't going to be cheap and you may need a booster. If you plan to just send 480i you can save a bunch by using component with separate analog audio, though it won't seem that way at the time. Remember you need a separate satellite receiver for the bedroom. You will have to run a cable across the roof from the dish down into the cabinet to the bedroom receiver If you just want to use the TV speakers. If you want full fidelity and 1080p and use speakers off the second zone of the HT processor- amp then the receiver needs to go up front with the first satellite receiver being connected by that HDMI cable. If you want to stream video, via a computer feed use Apples accessories and wifi. to rid your self of cabling and interface issues. Computer are notoriously noisy creatures in the audio and video spectrums. You may have to increase the size of the hifi cabinet and you will definitely need to add cooling input and exhaust fans.
TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731. With NAD processor reciever- DVD-CD combo, M&K 5.1 speaker system. With digital reciever and Directv satellite system. Haven't upgraded the TV's yet, but all the cables are run and all I need to do is buy and mount the 32" for the front and the 26" for the rear. I'll be using 1080p up front and 480i in the rear.

I agree with Thomas, you will want a second receiver/DVR in the bedroom. You can use the existing wiring and switch for OTA and cable.
When I mounted the bedroom TV, I ignored the existing TV cabinet. I installed a ceiling mount bracket over the foot of the bed with a 32" LCD. I was able to run the cables through the AC duct. If I were to do it over I would install a 37" and have a home theater experience in the BR. I did use the old TV cabinet in the BR for the second DVR and DVD. I did connect the front DVR to the BR TV and the BR DVR to the front TV so I can watch all content everywhere.

Thanks Bob. Actually the wireless approach is what I have been exploring. Actually, the device you linked to transmits from the TV to other peripherals as I understand it. There are other ones that are designed to transmit from your satellite receiver to the the TV such as this one: http://www.actiontec.com/products/product.php?pid=219. On Amazon, the reviews were mixed. Guess just have to see how it works in a given setup/environment. If it works, would appear to be the way to go. If.
