Velvac Mirrors

Yahoo Message Number: 76784
After recently driving a truck I became acutly aware of the limitations of my 2030 mirrors on my Allure in comparison. There is a choice of 2 upgrades I could make; adding "top hat" mirrors to each assembly or switching the complete mirror heads out for the latest V-Max large flat assembly.
I would appreciate experiences of both solutions so I may come to a decision. The V-max one of course is the most expensive!!

I changed out our 04 Allure's two head mirror with the Velvac three head. The switching worked fine on the bottom/middle mirror, and they added a toggle siwtch to use the same controls for the top mirror. (Holland Motors did this for me in San Diego, as part of my purchase agreement of a this unit in on consignment.) I paid for the mirrors (found some surplus units that were in a 'B' grade condition, as about 25% of the cost of a new pair.
Very pleased with the addition of the top mirror, especially when backing into a wooded area:)! I set the top ones to point up just a bit, and between these and the DW - feel much better in those situations:)!
If I can locate the receipt on where I found my surplus units, I'll send you a PM.

Best of luck,
Smitty

I've had a few Emails asking where I bought these mirrors. I know it came from stock that was bought from CC and Monaco, but dang if I can remember the company I bought them from. I have one more folder of receipts in the rig, and will go to the rig this weekend to look.

Will post back what I find...

Best to all, and TGIF to all that are still doing the 9-5 grind!!! (Such as myself...) Smitty

Hi Folks,

I bought new shells for our coach a year or so age direct from Velvac, but they are not cheep. I think $80 or so each. I changed them only because the old ones were getting tacky looking. I did not change styles tho.

I prove that a mind if not watched carefully, can walk off...:)!
I just remembered today, that I had posted about my mirror replacement on this board. Found it back in September, 2010.

----Copy from older post ----

Quick update that Oregon Motor Coach suggested I call Northwest RV Supply. While they did not have the standard two mirror head unit for my rig available, they...
----End of copy---------

These were the 2030-3 series I ended up using.
A quick look at their site, brings back no Velvac mirrors, but suggest a call, as they seemed pretty connected to other supply places too.

I also received excellent help in replacing a broken fog light, from Specialty Logistics. Took several calls, and pictures, but they found me a replacement unit. Nice and good follow-up to be sure it fit when I got it.

And as mentioned, Velvac also will sell you a unit, but they are expensive new:)! Might try some RV Salvage yards too, and get lucky.

Best of luck,

Good info for Velvac Mirrors. Northwest RV Supply had a good selection of mirror parts this past summer. Their prices were reasonable and most of the parts were new. Stopped by on my last day in Eugene but they did not have the right Mirror Bases (Chrome blistered on ours). Back in Florida took Pics of both Mirror bases and emailed Velvac. Quick response. They said although our Coach was long out of warrentee ('02) they could help us out and sell them to us at cost. Saved couple hundred dollars. Nice folks to work with. Even apologized for the blistering of the Chrome.
