water pump

Just arrived in Hudson. FL to have my fogged windows repaired. Wanted to use my pump for water instead of hooking up. Pump is running but not pumping water. I have about 5/8 of a tank of freash water unless the gauge is not working. Ideas?

make sure your valves are correct . Try loosing the suction line connection going to pump to make sure you have water going to pump. It should start dripping. Then tighten the suction and loosen the discharge to see if you big any pressure. You could have an air in the system.

Tom, try these:

Open all faucets to pump any air out of the system. (Don't forget the shower in the plumbing bay.)

Check the inlet screen to your pump.
Open the fresh water drain valve to make sure you have water in the tank.
Visually check the part of the tank located in the plumbing bay. You should be able to see the water level.

Hook up shore water and see if you get flow.

Try different valve settings in the water bay, If the valve that Tank fills isn't correct the pump wont pump.

are you getting any air pressure out of the faucets? If yes, than you may be sucking air somewhere before the pump. If the pump has a prescreen than it may have cracked.

Are you wanting more pressure or more flow. We installed one of the variable output units that provides up to 5.7 gpm, I recall at something like 40 psi. I also removed the restrictors which provides a great shower whether from municipal or on board supply..
We very seldom operate from the on board water reservoir for more than a couple days so it is no problem but if boondocking this pump draws the reserve down pretty quickly. The Navy way is the best to minimize consumption.
