2012 Honda CR-V AWD as dinghy??

Greetings

I currently tow a 2006 Honda CR-V and want to upgrade to 2012. Does anyone currently tow one and can AWD version be towed 4down? Honda salesman don't always have the accurate info that this forum has.
Also, any unique install issues with tow bar hardware? Thanks

I made the salesman show me the manual before I would buy the car and my 2008 is towed 4 down. The worst thing I have found are the tires which I changed after a year. Ilene 2004 Inspire 51071/2008 Honda CRV AWD

The January 2012 FMCA magazine "Towables for 2012" article indicates the 2012 CR-V IS towable. I'd still ask to see the owner's manual section on towing before purchasing.
We tow a 2010 CR-V. No problems with the (Roadmaster Sterling) towbar hardware, but the M&G braking system install was a bit tight.
We just replaced the OEM (Continental) tires after about 45K miles (30K driving + 15K towing); no unusual wear patterns I could see.

The 2012 edition of Motorhome magazine "Towing Guide" also said it is towable, but Tom's suggestion to check the owners manual is right on.

I have been on the list for a red 2012 CRV for over four months now. However, the first thing I did when I saw one at a dealership last December was to ask to see the manual. It was either page 168 or 288 (can't remember back that far) that gave the towing four-on-the-floor instructions. The words were the same as the Element.
These 2012 cars are sold before they hit the dealership! At least that is what I am told.

Ilene is right. "Show me the manual" is the only way to make sure. Don't believe a salesman. I also found the Bridgestone originals on my 2009 to be shortlived. I did a Google search and found they were very poorly rated.

Just purchased a '12 CR-V AWD in February. Picked it up on Wednesday and put it on a trailer to drag to Florida two days later. Read the manual, and as was already indicated, the AWD can be towed 4 down - put it in neutral, run it every 8 hours. Original specs I heard indicated Honda would upgrade to a new 6-speed transmission, which never happened. I think it is the same transmission as the '11. Planned to use a tow dolly, but nope, not with an AWD. Since I've been in FL, I've purchased a Roadmaster tow bar and ordered the baseplate, due to be delivered Friday. My project for this weekend is to attach it. After the local RV place said $600 to install it, well, I decided I could give it a try for that price. Roadmaster estimated 2 hours install time; RV place estimated 6. Me, hoping for 2 days, as projects are always prone to fill the allotted time. Instructions do show minimal modification (bend a couple pieces of metal, cut some plastic, move a line, drill two holes). As for the front-end, there appears to be no modifications to the bumper; connects will fit into existing openings. There is a mention on the Roadmaster website about a brushguard, however, the only accessory on the front end is a skid-plate, which might interfere with the connection. I didn't add that accessory, so I do not know if that is an issue. All front-ends looked the same, from the LX to the EX-L. If the part arrives Friday as expected, I'll share pictures and let you know how it goes this weekend.
I also looked at the Blue Ox baseplate instructions and saw minimal differences in installation.

Thanks so much. Would appreciate pix as I have a Blue Ox on my 06. I'm interested how easy it goes on and if molding has to be cut or modified. As you state, there are minimal differences between the applications. Best of luck. You're braver than I am doing it yourself.
