Backup Monitor/Camera

I have a 2005 Inspire and the Weldex Backup Monitor comes on fine when I first start the coach in the morning. Then, when I stop for fuel or any any purpose and then restart the coach, it will not come on for 10 to 20 minutes. Then, all of a sudden it comes on again and stays on.
Any advice from those with previous experience on this topic would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of replacing the unit, but not sure if this would solve the problem.
If I do replace it, is it worth going to color? Is it worth spending a little more and adding side cameras?

Our backup camera quit working and we checked under the dash and the connecting wire was loose. Pushed it back together and taped it so it won't vibrate loose again. Others have had problems with the wires at the camera in the back.
