Enzyme Cleaners

Hi - I was looking for an enzyme cleaner that is capable of eating sludge off the sides of the black water tank. It seems the sludge is affecting the tank level gauge sensor. Has anyone else used an enzyme cleaner effectively for this purpose? If so, what product would you recommend? Many thanks for the information.

Rid-X liquid (2 cap fulls) and a gallon or two of water in both grey/black tanks after every empty of the tanks. This is especially effective when your coach sits for extended periods.

It sounds like you have been relatively stationary for extended periods and this of course makes it harder to keep the tanks clean because you do not get the sloshing around effect. We had our tanks pressure washed and the sensors now work perfectly and have continued to work well as we are moving more frequently. It was spendy $175 but it did work. Several rigs had it done in the RV park where we were staying and they all seemed satisfied with the result if not the price. More competition needed. I am thinking anyone with a wife who can change RV tires shouldn't have a problem coming up with a home grow solution. My wife would not let me bring a hose into the RV. Lack of trust obviously.

Dan - Thanks. We do have a special spray hose that we use from time to time. It passes easily through the bathroom window then down the hatch. I did read many months ago about the enzyme stuff eating the sludge off the inside of the tank. Thought I'd try the Rid-X followed by the spray and see what happens. Yes we do stay put for 3-8 months at a time. Tanks get dumped and cleaned usually once per week. Should be interesting. Jeannie is extremely helpful and I'm grateful for that.
