Generator exhaust on 1999 Intrigue

Yahoo Message Number: 78603
We have the PowerTech generator on our "new to us" 1999 Intrigue and it in the first bay behind drivers front wheel. When we were at a rally dry camping and had to run the generator to charge up the batteries I have concerns with the exhaust being right under the slide. I saw people using Gen-Turi to run the exhaust up above but I don't see away to do this with the slide above it. Has anyone come up with a creative way to get around this?
Also looking thru the archives it sounds like in 2000 or newer the routed the exhaust out the back but seems like there were some issues with that solution with ground clearance.
We have new CO2 detector in the coach but it just doesn't seem good having the exhaust under the slide.

So, looking for advice on what our options may be on this.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 98 Intrigue and my Generator exhaust is in the same location. We use our generator alot and never ever had an issue with the exhaust getting into the coach.

We use the Genturi (homemade) when parked close to other units and running the generator. That avoids sending our exhaust into their campsite. Instead it directs the exhaust up about 12 feet and across our roof.
We also use it for our benefit to avoid sitting outside smelling the exhaust when the wind is blowing from the driver side of the coach and the generator is running.
We have no slides and no exhaust smell or alarms in our rig, but perhaps the slide is not well sealed on your rig?

Bob,

We have the same gen-set as the one on your coach. I am the second owner. The original owner extended the exhaust aft to about the center of the second to last bay. This is the one forward of the utility bay. It is fabricated from heavy plumbing pipe and supported with two heavy duty, steel/rubber tailpipe hangers attached to frame tubing cross members. This location allows the exhaust to be expelled well away from the "Great Room" slide out. However, if you decide to mount a roof exhaust extension, you will experience interference to the operation of your bay door.
In my experience, there does not appear to be any problem with ground clearance.
Of course, whenever I run the generator while parked or OTR, I make sure that all of the vents and windows are closed to avoid creating any internal vacuum conditions that may suck the exhaust into the coach. Also, If you run your gen-set while OTR , I would suggest you run you dash air on "A/C" or "Vent" to help keep the cabin pressurized as the movement of the coach creates a natural vacuum inside (Bernoulli's Principle).
BTW, this Power Tech and Kubota diesel combination is a little noisier than the newer sets, but has been the most reliable and trouble free system I have ever owned.

On our 99 Allure simialr to your Intrigue our power tech generator exhaust runs just past the large slide rear. Being in the Biz one time I see this is allright. Some folks use the Genturi Add on exhaust pipe when at Rallys. I had one years ago on our gas Allegro Coach. I have no issues with this set up. Ken Retired Cat Tech, BTW Coach air moniters like carbon detectors need to replaced every 7 years. FYI 99 Allure 30356.

I want to thank everyone for their input. Our exhaust comes out just behind the generator so it is under the slide. Looks like extending it further back past the slide is a doable thing so I will look into doing just that.

If anyone has a picture that would be great

Thanks again.

You could try to add a slide depth extension to the exhaust and then mount the Genturi?
