Equalizing AGM Lifeline Battery

I have Lifeline AGM Batteries. I have heard you do not equalize and also heard yes you do. Has anyone equalized their Lifeline AGM Battery

The folks at Lifeline walked me through it about four years ago.
I have been thinking about doing it again but don't remember the procedure.

I have never equalized my batteries in the over eight years they have been in my coach. I do keep a desulphator running on them.
Lifeline does provide instructions for equalization in their manual online.

Here are the instructions.

Conditioning/Equalizing Charge: 15.5 volts for 8 hours Conditioning/equalizing should only be done when the battery is showing symptoms of capacity loss. If conditioning/equalizing is necessary, first go through the normal charge cycle. Once the battery is as fully charged as possible, start the conditioning/equalizing charge.

Stan - Mine have been in service since Oct 2009 and I haven't equalized them yet. Capacity remains good. Conditioning should only be done if the batteries are showing a lack of capacity. To condition, charge at 15.5V for 8 hours. Before beginning the conditioning charge make sure to complete a normal full charge first. Lifeline also recommends their batteries always be fully recharged every 5-10 cycles. Repeated partial charging creates sulfation which reduces their capacity. If you keep after this it is unlikely you'll need to do a conditioning charge, except in perhaps the oldest of batteries.

You can equalize them as others have pointed out, but the bottom line, is the results will be minimal. Will you gain any performance on batteries that are aging out, maybe a little for a short period of time. I've done it more than once with very little success in improving the service life.

I have a large (900 amps at 24 v dc) lifeline 6 volt bank on my boat configured to 24 volt, great batteries and when my wet cells die on the coach Lifeline AGM's will be installed; equalizing is recomended by Lifeline and is dependent on usage, here is a link to part one of an interesting independent report, read part 2 on the same site as well. I dealt directly with Lifeline and found them very helpful. Worth exchanging emails with them and outlining your usage in terms of cycles, depth of cycle, bank configuration etc.
