Jake Brake operation

I would appreciate your comments on a phenomenon that occurred on driving to the ferry; I had switched from low setting to full and back again on the Jake brake; at some point subsequent I became aware the Jake was not operating. I stopped and restarted the engine, it did not come on but then I became aware it was back on! The problem has not repeated itself in some 350 miles but I have remained in low setting however as the hills are manageble at that. Any understanding, is there a lock out if the switch from low to high is not done in a certain way? Michael Slater

I had a similar problem/symptom with my ISL 370 and it turned out to be some Jake Brake wires rubbing/shorting-out on the engine block under the engine valve cover.
