Tire pressure check

A few weeks back I discovered we had an inner rear tire flat. Since that time I'm paranoid about air pressure. The big problem is getting a reading from the inner rear tires.
What, or how, does everyone get their pressure gauge onto those valve stems. I have flow through valves and still can't get my gauge on them straight to get a reliable reading. I have a long truck gauge with dual heads but the angle is all wrong to get a good reading.

My tire and aligning guy, Precision Alignment, in Elk Rapids, MN, put extended valve stems from the inside dual through one of the holes in the outside dual with a rubber donut that fit in the opening so it secures the valve stem to the outside dual rim so that I can read it easily. Hope this helps. Hard to explain.

Bruce, most trucker gauges I've seen have the head that faces back at 45 degrees to the gauge body, when, in my case, the head needs to be parallel to the gauge body. Les Schawb in Junction City is where I mail ordered mine. Capping all the valves with 'Alligator Caps' also make the job a piece of cake. I do not have any extensions either.

Way back when, 98 or 99 when all CC owners were having trouble with Toyo 275 R 70 tires, I called Les Schwab in JC Oregon and they recommended a tire gauge where two receptacles were parallel to the gauge, but off set about 1/2 inch. The gauge worked pretty well. When I had the tires replaced on the recall I had the inner stems replaced and massaged so the gauge would easily line up with the outer wheel holes and the outer stems were off set just a bit to allow easier access of the rear receptacle of the gauge. When I bought our 04 Intrigue the stems were already aligned for the outer duals and while at Les Scwab replacing the new defective house batteries with new ones they touched the alignment of the inner dual stems. I later on added extensions to the inner stems of the 98 Allure, which LesSchwab and CC frowned upon. I never had any issues, guess I was lucky. The 04 I have left as original. I have Smart tire, but only use it as a warning device as the sensors can be off a pound or two either way.

I bought a tire pressure guage at the truck stops that holds the reading until you press a button to release the reading. Works great and cost under $20.00

OK long story short. We have been camped at the same campground for almost 3 weeks. Every time we go anywhere we drive past a broken down old tire shop. Well out of curiosity I pulled in and ask about a tire gauge that would do the job. Well dang it they had them in stock. Not much else but they did have what I was looking for. Two connections. One straight on and one facing backwards at 45 degrees. Works a charm. Cost a whole $27.00. They told me they kept them cos so many folks get caught just like me. :) Goes to show the big boys don't have all the answers.

By the way the tire I was worried about was just fine.

When I got new tires I had extended steel valve stems installed which face out through the rim. This also facilitated installing pressure pro monitors and I now check my tire pressure from the drivers seat.
