Lift Pump question

Noted on Silverleaf yesterday that at idle I am getting lift pump warning which almost immediately goes to inactive lift pump warning. Any words of wisdom or advice. Is the lift pump something that slowly goes in need of seals??? Is this something that can be rebuilt when not traveling??? Engine is ISL 370 Cummins and just had it in the shop where they replaced fuel pressure sensor, but no comment from them on lift pump problem which is part of the fuel tree, that was inspected with no fault noted. They reported 255 counts of fault 456 and 64 counts of fault 449. Fuel sensor with bad pin corrected these faults they reported.

Ron & Molly, I have an ISL 370 in my 03 Allure 1st Ave. #30898, I had to replace the Lift Pump at around 80,000 miles, this component commonly goes out on the ISC & ISL engines.
First check carefully to see if there is any leakage of fuel coming from the Lift Pump. The Lift Pump only runs during the starting sequence. If the Fault code is showing up many time then going inactive you are probably close to having a failure. Don't fool around with trying to throw parts at it. Bite the bullet and replace, make sure your Cummins shop orders the "O" Rings with Lift Pump, would you believe they don't automatically come with a new unit and you need them.
Several of my friends have just replaced the Gasket and it worked for awhile then started leaking again. You're looking at approx. $500.00 for unit with Labor.
You would not want to try replacing yourself on the road. It is in a difficult place to work.
Your lucky your CAPS "Cummins Accumulator Pump System" has gone out yet, its the High Pressure Fuel Pump and is $5000.00 with labor. However, fault codes will define which component of CAPS unit is failing and I was able to replace those with Labor for around $2,000.
The first of these failed at 36,000 mile under Cummins warranty the next at 100,000 miles under my check book.
