Thermostat Zone 1

Yahoo Message Number: 82123
Does anyone have any ideas why suddenly I am losing Zone 1 control of the A/C system. On a daily basis If you try to select Zone 1 on the thermostat, It's not there. I have reset the thermostat by pulling the glass fuse and waiting 15 minutes before starting again. The zone returns but disappears after a while. This is a new problem. I changed the temperature sensor for zone 1 that made no difference.
Thanks,

John Bennett

Not sure how many times we have to remind folks, but YOU NEED TO POST YOUR COACH INFO, so that others can help. Over a period of 15 to 20 years , there have been numerous varieties of thermostats, numbers of A/C etc

I have an 2008 Intrigue and have had this problem on and off since I've the coach was new and I have not been able to get it figured out. I also sometimes can not shut the whole AC system down so I use the circuit breaker to turn it off...only sometimes also the same with zone 1...only sometimes..I have tried removing the fuse in the thermostat and then back in and sometimes that and sometimes it does not.???? believe me this has been 1 problem that 3 techs have not been able to repair. Any help would be appreciated.

I think there are some dip switches on each AC up top that you might try resetting. I haven't had this problem but remember reading about these switches that are used to set the AC, furnace, and zone configurations of your coach. Resetting the switches may clean the contacts if they re corroded. You might also try spraying some good electrical cleaner on them too.

Our coach has a single RV Comfort. ZC thermostat that controls three zones. It regularly will not show one or more zones temporarily. Normally I just wait a few moments and it will work as it should. I have learned to never touch any of the switches or buttons when the temp is showing "00" as that will lock up the thermostat until I cycle the coach 12V power. I believe it is related to the thermostat using a serial bus to talk to the control boards on the AC units. Sometimes the bus locks up or gets busy.

Basically, I have written the whole process of to "mood swings" and try not to let it bother me. BTW, calling Coleman was a real waste of time.

Kevin, thanks for your response. I have a single thermostat the ZC. This has been a problem forever but generally only a few times a season. Since it has been daily lately I finally got fed up enough to work on it. First I changed the zone 1 temp sensor, made sure the connection was good then checked the shielded lead at the AC. Found a questionable connector so replaced the connectors and reset the thermostat by pulling the fuse waiting 15 min then restarting it. Acted up for another day then all seems well. Read some posts on other forums and this is a very common problem. Some seemed to think that RVP redesigned the thermostat because of the 00 problem. I got my new unit today. Nicer LED screen and easier to read, so far so good. The buttons have also been relocated and have a better feel. Bought it on Ebay for around $130 including shipping. Let you know how it goes.
