Parts Source

Help! I knew that I should not have talked about my Hurricane furnace. I ended up with a cracked circulation pump (the one next to the engine), lost all of my coolant while going down the interstate. I stopped in time to save the engine but I'm down looking for a pump. Does anyone have a source? Is that a CC part or provided with the Hurricane? The new Country Coach parts folks say the pump is on back order and ITR is not open yet.

Any info is very much appreciated....

Dick, the coolant circulation pump mounted probably to your frame rail near engine is manufactured by March Pumps, it is likely their Pt. # 29924. Check the internet as the prices are all over the map. I had Eric Olstrom of Premier Motor Coach Services in Tuscon, AZ purchase and install mine. His price to me on the pump itself was $258.70, I see them on internet all the way up to $500.

People also refer to this as a Bus Pump.
It is not an easy removal and installation. Eric used his lift to work from underneath coach.

Dick, forgot to tell you Hurricane has nothing to do with this Pump.

Mine went out at 115,000 miles, Eric's phone is 520-624-2024

I don't know what part I ordered but until I got it I bypassed the pump with some heater hose parts from NAPA. I still keep the bypass parts in my emergency parts bin in case it happens again. Ran the coach for 350 miles with the bypass and no problems.

Dick,

I had same problem. Glad you did not have any resulting engine damage. I had Cummins West remove it and install a bypass tube instead. This " school bus pump" is superfluous and prone to failure. It can't cause any trouble if it is not there! All works fine without it.
See my posts in July and several old posts.

A great big thanks to Mike and Bob for the assist (and a special thanks to Kevin Waite who was the first to find a pump for me). Cummins finally found one locally so I had to pass on Kevin's find.

Also, thanks for the education about how the pump is used.

Until the next repair........
