HWH on a 2007 CC Intrigue 530 Ovation 2

Our hydraulic hose (or fittings) has sprung a leak on both sides of the tag axle. The passenger side of the bedroom slide is out. We loosened the needles on both side of the manifold a half to a full turn to take the pressure off (the galley side then came out two inches also) and tried to push it in...at no avail. Then we used a com-a-long and hooked it to the eye bolt (behind the bottom drawer) and under the bed and tried to pull it in. The bottom slide came in part way but the top would not budge so we disconnected the com-a-long. We are in Montrose, Co. and over a period of three days have not found anyone that is capable to help. No one responds to the single mobile unit that repairs RV's within a 80 mile radius. If I drive the unit to a large city (for help) I'm afraid of getting a ticket for too wide of a load or for the rest of the slides to open up more as well. Any suggestions??

Do you belong to coach net or good Sam. Both seem to have available repair people. Been RV ing for 40 years. You might call them and joint, just to get the phone numbers. Coach Net has helped us 3 times last 20 years. Twice with slide issues. If your able to get the one slide in, you can use 2x4s cut to length to prevent movement of them during travel to repair shop...

Harvey, we have essentially the same coach. This problem occurred to us - same slide. It is likely the sync cylinder (in ours mounted above and behind the curb side tag wheel) behind a metal plate) has popped a fitting. You would see hydraulic fluid leaking out under the plate and down your mud flap.
Ours was slightly at an angle left to right but we are able to get ours in by carefully following the manual procedure. We left the com-a-long on until we got to OR, was we only part of a day away. Doug Beaudry fixed it all in no time (he was independent as Country Boys then).
  • Assuming you have the big owners manual, have you looked at the appropriate section in the manual, which has clear directions on how to open the manifold valves, etc. to pull the slide in?
  • Is the slide out cockeyed so as to get wedged on one side?
  • Doug Beaudry at Country Coach Corp and knows these slides and HWH inside/out. Give him a call Monday AM. He may have a solution for you.
Good luck,
Lee

Harvey, I have an 06 40'er with a tag and my curbside bedroom slide came out on me 2 times. First time, on I-5 coming over the Grapevine I looked in my mirror and there it was, fully extended. I panicked, "limped" it several miles on the shoulder to an off ramp. Called Coach Net and 4 hours later a service truck showed up and the kid was able to patch my hydraulic line together good enough to get me home. The hand winch and the eye bolt in the cabinet is a poor, poor, poor design. It pulls at an angle which just jams the slide. Worthless. Got home, had new hoses and fittings installed. A year later it happened again on Spooner Summit on Highway 50 coming into So Lake Tahoe. I drove it about 20 miles to an RV park and called a mechanic friend who came and put new hoses on it the next morning. As Lee did, I hooked the come a long on it to keep it in until we went to OMC in Oregon a few months later. They told me it was a common problem in my coach because when the slide was in and traveling the hoses were too close to the engine and got hot and failed. They installed a heat shield and the problem hasn't reoccured.

My recommendation is to, as Lee suggested, try to get the slide in following the procedures in the manual. If that doesn't work (it didn't for me), try to get a mobile mechanic out to fix the hoses enough to get the slide in, attach the come a long, then get it to a repair shop. If all else fails, find a repair shop (there HAS to be one near Montrose) and drive it there. If your slide is like mine, it comes out about 18 inches. Drive careful and it shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck.
