Does the 2006 antenna get digital?

Yahoo Message Number: 82829
I have the automatic antenna with a controller made by Braund Mfg Co. I assume the antenna is also made by Braund Mfg., but I don't know this is true. Does anyone know if the antenna on a 2006 Intrigue receives the digital antenna? If it doesn't, what antenna should I replace it with that will require the least amount of modification and still be satisfactory? I can't get local TV stations on either my front or bedroom TVs.

If it the antenna receives digital, then I have another problem that I haven't been able to solve. I switched the A/B buttons and change the settings on the TV and the receiver from Sat. to Ant. with no results. If it isn't the antenna, I would appreciate suggestions.

Gene - Television stations broadcasting in digital use both the VHF (channels 2-13) and UHF (channels 14-51) bands. Antennas that receive both VHF and UHF band will be fine. And older antennas do this fine. Our bus is a 2006 and we too have the Braund antenna. We get digital stations fine. Keep in mind, however, that since June 12, 2009, full-power television stations nationwide have been broadcasting exclusively in a digital format. So it's the modulation scheme (digital as opposed to analog) that matters.
In order to receive a digital channel, you need a tuner that demodulates the digital format. Or a converter box if you are feeding an old analog TV set. Most somewhat newer TVs and DVRs are digital ready. Both our TVs predate the government digital mandate and both receive digital signals. Digital stations have a number dot number format like 5.2, 5.2, etc. Check your TV for this. TVs so equipped can be fed an RF signal (that which comes from an antenna) and produce a picture. The other issue is signal strength. There is a signal strength threshold below which the TV's tuner doesn't see a channel. That means a blank screen and/or a "no signal" message. Sensitivity varies from TV to TV. We had to add a mast mounted signal booster to our antenna to solve that problem.
Diagnosing this problem is your classic process of elimination. If you have that funky switch box with a zillion buttons there may be a splitter in the coax somewhere. Any passive switching or splitting depletes signal strength. If you can locate the coax coming from your antenna and feed that into the TV set you've eliminated components. If that works, add things back in one at a time until you discover which part of the system dumps the signal. Either that component isn't working or it has reduced the signal strength below what the TV's tuner requires.
Many TVs have a scan for channels feature. This may help. If it comes up blank something is wrong. That's assuming your neighbor is getting reception. I lost the switch box several years ago owing to a need to simplify. Our HiFi cabinet was an absolute nightmare of wires, wall worts, splitters and connections. I found buzzing out wire functions somewhat inconvenient. Back in the bedroom closet are more wires that pertain to the antenna. CC did put label bands on the coax so that may help. Not sure how the wire runs differ (if at all) for your bus. Try to get the antenna signal as close to the source as possible and patch it through to the TV from there.
That said, perhaps it's only a simple switch or button setting and everything else is fine. Good luck.

That is a decent digital antenna. The real issue is they are no longer made. I currently have a need for one of these. If you decide to change it let me know. I may be able to sell that one for you if it all works. My customer would really like to have the same antenna. All I need is the complete head unit and controller. No wiring etc.

News Flash.

Ford atarting on 3/30/2012 changed the trans on the Ford Fusion. it is NO longer flat towable or 4 down. Ford did NOT notify any sales dept about this. If you bought one after 3/30 you need to check it. If you did If you have the 6F35 Trans it is NOT towable.

The antenna on our '06 Intrigue (#11964) receives the digital signals beautifully. In fact there are many times we prefer to use the antenna instead of RV park cable for local channels.
