Tire Protection

A couple of years ago I was talking to the folks at "A Weigh We Go" and they recommend that something is put down under the tires to protect them--especially when parked on asphalt or concrete. As I recall, there was no particular recommendation on what to use, just use "something". Does anybody do this? If so, what do you use. Some people that I visited with recently in JC went to the Goodwill store and bought some place mats. There is an ad in FMCA magazine for some $$$$ "landing strips", but figured I would spend $$$ on something more fun :)
Next question--If you use wheel covers, how long do you plan on staying in one place before you put them on? I mean, if you are going to be parked only 2 or 3 days, do you put them on or only on longer stops?

We use our tire covers when we stay somewhere more then a week and when the coach is stored out side. Otherwise we treat our tires with 303 from Camping World.
It is a none petroleum base product that protects from uv rays and I also use it on my roof. Tire makers say tire cover don't do a thing but we still use them and the ones we have make the coach look great when parked, they also keep the wheels clean.
