1998 Allure, Thermo Window problem and other questions

We looked at a pretty nice 1998 Allure with the "greatroom" slide this weekend, and are very interested in buying it. However, on inspection, we noticed that 6 of the thermo (double glazed) windows have a problem where the seal is, in effect, "sucked" inward. The problem was particularly severe on the larger windows, such as those on the slideout and the larger one behind the front door.

This is an obvious manufacturing flaw since this type of window should last at least 15 years if made properly. I've seen some postings in other places about this type of problem with RV thermo windows and there have been at least some people who got replacements free or at reduced cost.

Unfortunately, this could be a deal killer for us as I would expect replacing these windows, which also have the factory optional tinting, to be pretty expensive. I'm calling the factory in the morning to discuss this but would really appreciate any knowledge you all have about this before I call.

Other things we noted with this coach:

The Zip Dee main awning has some type of fabric hinge in the aluminum cover. This has torn on both ends. How hard is it to replace this hinge? The rest of the awning is in great shape.

The rig has 42,000 miles on it. The tire recall was performed and the front tires look real good, probably because they are newer.
The rears are getting down there. How long do tires last with average use on this rig? What is a good estimate for replacement costinstalled? I don't think I'd want to ride on the rears much more than a few thousand more miles.

The big block Cummings/Allison world combo is awesome! But I noticed it sometime upshifted or downshifted hard. Is this typical or does it need some adjusting?

I have to say this was an incredibly easy rig to drive. We were intimidated by the idea of something this big and heavy until we drove it, and by we I am including my 5'-1&1/2" wife. The long wheelbase and lower profile really makes for a great handling machine. We're going to have one, question is, will it be this one?

Don't know when I'll be able to transmit this but in case you don't get any answers..... I had a '98 Intrigue and many times noticed a jerk in the up/down shift. The manual says that you can "retrain" the tranny to resolve this. I can't remember the steps but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting them from Allison.
