Pump burping problem solved

Yahoo Message Number: 84332
My coach is an 09 Magna which I took delivery of 2 months before the CC plant closure. I had a pump burping problem from day 1. It was gradual at first , and then burping about every hour. I also have an automatic water fill for the fresh tank which is solenoid operated. I removed the 5.3 GPM variable flow pump and sent it to the supplier, who confirmed there was no problem with the pump. The Tech said I should look on the suction side of the pump for an air leak. When I posted on the forum Fred Sage confirmed that he had had issues on the suction side. The pipe from the tank to the pump was the see-through braided hose. CC used the proper fitting on the tank but it had 2 elbows where they used PEX elbows which are for the PEX pipe which is slightly smaller than the braided hose. They used a very small width clamp. When the pump was pumping to 65 PSI discharge , to cycle off , the suction pressure was bringing in a small amount of air. At that point there was only water pressure equal to the height of water in the tank, so it did not leak water out. This would cause the pump to "burp "/ cycle on and off. I replaced the PEX elbows with the proper serrated tubing elbows and wider hose clamps and the problem mostly went away. That fixed problem number 1. If you have a variable volume high capacity pump , you could have this happening to you.
Problem number 2. As time went on the burping returned, and I could not find out the reason , as it would come and go. It kept getting worse. Last year , when parked and on city water for 10 continuous days, the fresh tank filled over half its capacity. It therefore had to be going in through the solenoid fill valve, or back through the pump. I tore the piping completely apart and tested the pump for back flow and it was NOT the culprit! I took the head off the water fill solenoid , and found that CC had put in a 40 PSI solenoid valve !!. I guess every time I filled the solenoid got weaker and was not holding the pressure which can be 65 PSI. This , basically recycled water through the pump , and back into the fresh tank through the leaking solenoid valve every time it burped. Since it is a big job, I finally had some time and have replaced the ASCO Red Hat 40 PSI valve with 150 PSI valve and the problem is gone !!! The valve was not cheap at about 180$. This is the valve that should have gone in , at the factory. Again this second problem would be on coaches with automatic water fill solenoid valve. Sorry to be long winded, but I felt I should accurately describe the problem. If anyone has any questions, email me off forum
