engine warn light

I've a c-9 Cat in an '05 Inspire. I'm getting an "engine warning" & "stop" light occasionally without any apparent problem. Operation, oil pressure, temps all OK, fluids all OK then lights come on intermittently and engine starts to slow and within 30 seconds will shut down if I don't stop it first. Key off a few seconds, back on and fire up and I can then go maybe 20 miles, maybe 200 miles and the same thing repeats. Any ideas? Thanks.

Tom, high probability your fuel filters are clogged up, suggest changing them. This is the cheapest first way to of testing.

Hi, If your rig came into our Truck shop I would replace fuel filters then cut apart the old ones the C-9 is sensitive to semi cloogged filters! Also check for GREEN STUFF on all battery Termanals and engine wiring. While in the shop connect the laptop and view codes/Warnings/Faults etc. Get a Price on the Laptop first should be less then 200 hundres dollars. Working for Cat in my other life Cat Dealer can also check for any EMCP Software updates excapt for labor updates are free. Keep us posted on your findings! Ken 99 Allure 30356.
Best of luck Tom.
