Here we go again ! Post 85257 -Jim Lewis of Infinity Coach advertising he can install your Pines conversion. Post 85259- Dave Rousey feels he has to advertise too, if Jim Lewis can. Post 85263 is Kevin Waite's response to a Florida dealer question. As we all know , if you have been monitoring this site , Butch Williams is his brother-in law and Kevin has worked there in the past. In 6 posts , 3 s. All these 3 posters know that they could send the answer in a private email. The advertisers should also know , that if you do not get contacted back, that is the right of the owner-poster to choose to NOT respond. The owner-poster is looking for a recommendation from another owner-member. Just so Barry Boas and others don't come flaming back, I am not interested in banning these businesses from MONITORING our MEMBERS FORUM, I am only interested in banning their advertising. If you open up this can of worms , expect every , RV sales place , supply companies, and tech services people to fill the posts. As an example of the opposite of this, you hear continuous recommendations about the services of Chris Snyder and Eric Olstrom in Tucson. I know , for a fact , that both can and do, monitor this forum, yet , you never hear an from them. Where do you draw the line ? The answer is easy---NO !!!

I'm not exactly sure of the Forum's rules but I'm personally not opposed to responses from "advertisers" permanent to a question or something of interest to RV'ers. I know Keven in the past posted comments of interest at least to me. The moderator can comment if they get "out of hand"!
If someone was having a specific problem and an advertiser responded on line it would be of interest to me to know about the problem and a possible solution. My opinion for what it's worth.

I don't mind some issue specific advertising from professionals IF they also respond occasionally with advise usable to the group.

Ron, you must live a horrible life. Come down to the cancer ward with me next week. If this is all in life you have to worry about. You must live a great life. I find the posts reassuring having a coach with very little factory support. Have learned a great deal from there posts. Maybe you should use the delete key if there bothering you so much...

Which one of you wants to volunteer to decide who we should allow to advertise. There are several hundred RV sales places, probably thousands of suppliers, and I could go on. Do we allow the inevitable inundation of RV sales places to list a motorhome for sale, each time he has one. Do we let the toilet smell suppliers say, hey, I have a solution to your smell problem, or do you want to hear from a fellow CC owner. Let's not beat this to death !! Just read the forum Mission Statement that you made the commitment to when you joined this site. I do not prefer to use the delete button, I would prefer to keep the intent of the forum.
PS don't send any more responses I have made my point. If you want advertising, start your own forum, and see who follows.

I for one know how Ron Baran must feel as I made the same kind of comment a couple of years ago and the uprising occurred then, just as now. Thought I was going to get blackballed.
I think Ron explained himself very well and constructively, and IMHO most of you have overreacted. He did not say that vendors could not post a comment about a service issue and give contact information, which many of you seem to think. At least many of you appear to be reacting that way.
A positive example (and there are others) is Kevin Waite. Kevin often will say something like " . . . I carry that part, or I can help, give me a call . . ." Well and good.
Another good example is Herb requiring Clubs to stop posting club information and consolidating that into a monthly post.
Maybe Herb could think of a process for vendors to send him information, comments etc. and he could post that monthly?
However, long paragraphs and pitches from vendors seem to cross the line into commercialism. I don't see that as any different from clubs pushing their agenda?

We haven't had a real problem with s from "outsiders" yet in my opinion. I think most of us appreciate when one of the former CC techs tell us that they are capable of providing a service we thought we would have to have done at an "outside" source. Most of us prefer to go to someone who knows Country Coaches. For example, it is nice to know that Dave Ramsey can put in the Pines refrigeration unit if you are in the northwest area. Dave made the statement and didn't bother us with elaboration. Dave, Kevin and John Davis do answer questions and provide information in the forum that is of interest to most of us. Because there are so many places that can't really provide honest and quality service and parts, we need to know where to go to get adequate service and affordable parts. I agree, Ron, that we must watch that "outsiders" don't take advantage of this forum, but I do like informative input that is of interest and help to a significant number of CC owners. We all realize we are walking a tightrope.

Gene, you just made the salient point Ron exposed. You said "For example, it is nice to know that Dave Ramsey can put in the Pines refrigeration unit if you are in the northwest area. Dave made the statement and didn't bother us with elaboration."

Great, good example.

Anyone who doesn't get that is not paying attention to the substance of the thread.
We kicked this around a couple of years ago, and low and behold the blatant ads and promotions stopped.

Guess it was time again.

The information provided by the paid professional that 'watch over us' is greatly appreciated.
If they over stay their welcome then it is up to the moderator, who graciously manages the site to decide when it is too much.

Interesting you feel the need to be in control and also must have the last word....perhaps you should consider getting a life.

Ron Isn't it easier for you to use 'delete' than to ban what other members find informative and interesting?
