Question to full timers. I have only 83,000 miles on my 04 Intrigue with 1800 hours on the engine for an Average of 46.+ miles per hour. How do I fit in with the rest of you? Slower, faster, do I do to much stop and go, or am I average? That's an average of 193+ travel hours a year. As we travel around 5 months a year thats almost 9 hours a week. How does that fit into the scheme of things.

We full time since 2009 in our 33' 2004 Allure with 2 slides. Love it. We have over 100,000 miles on our coach. We travel 8-9 months of the year only going to home base for doctor appointments every 6 months.

No blog but I am on Facebook with some photos.

Those short Allures are amazing motor coaches. Good on Country Coach for having built 32/33's in addition to 45's.

Interesting!! Never even thought of that. So I checked, been full time in this MH since July of 1998 and the MH has 91,519 miles on it and 2293 hrs on the motor, that equals about 40 mi/hr average. We've put an average of 6300 miles/yr on the coach. We had a max year of about 9500 miles and a min year of 2800 miles. Projects, medical and just "stuff" dictated the actual mileage! Don't think fuel prices had much to do with the mileage/yr. We don't scrimp of diesel or wine (not necessarily in that order)! Don't think there is a "correct" average or mph!! Do what makes ya happy and what ya wanna do!! We just take our time and enjoy "the life".

We enjoy traveling April May and early June and September and October, because we don't have to make reservations or plans so much. We usually attend 2 rallies of some type a year. This year they will be both in Texas unless we decide to go to a 3rd in Calistoga, Ca. Were visiting family and friends this year all over the Southwest but will avoid the heat by going to Colorado for the Summer. Colorado is our favorite state, with Oregon and Northern California coming in second. We love New England, too. Maybe next year.
Our average has dropped to about 9,000 miles a year, with last year being 5500. When I was working for a living and had the 98 36' Allure our average was closer to 10,500. But then there were always 3 or 4 business trips we took each year in the coach. It was great having the coach to live in while everyone else was in a motel or hotel while the work was getting done. from 1975 thru 1992 I traveled for work 200 days a year. By 04 when I retired we were down to 50 days a year for work, but I used to sneak off 6 weeks a year , too.

Gary & Leeanne,

Welcome to the most exciting life of fulltiming!! We have a '99 Magna and have been fulltiming since May '08....and I can honestly say I NEVER want a house , again! We are a little different than most fulltimers.....I work fulltime as a physical therapist Since we started fulltiming, we have lived in FL, VT, NM and now in OR. So, we have only logged in about 16,000 miles on this coach. We don't move the coach as much as we'd like to, but we still are enjoying life from the motorhome.
I have a trip journal through Good Sam and love sharing our adventures with others. If you would like to get onto it, you can email me directly and I will send you an invite.
We look forward to the day when we can travel more freely, though, we plan to workamp for as long as we enjoy doing such.

Wow, Dixie! That's a long time. Have you been in the same coach or traded once or twice? Do you have favorite places you like to stay in for a period of time? Someone with your length of time being full timers must have a lot of info those of us who don't get to spend anywhere that much time would love to know. Any info you would love to share, I'd love to hear.

Thanks!!!

It is heartening to read such enthusiastic accounts from so many fulltimers. And we have met many others in various RV Parks who have echoed these same sentiments. It was indeed these same people who influenced us to move towards a full time lifestyle. We went from 2 months the first year, to 5 the second and are on track to do 9 months this year. We're not ready to give up our home in Oregon... and may never do it. We're too attached to our many personal treasures collected over a life time and want to have a home to go back whether just for a few months a year, or just to have "in reserve" in case the health goes south for either one of us.
But that does not mitigate the great joy of the open road. We have hundreds of friends around the country subscribed to our blog at www. Wind-seeker.com/blog enjoying our travels vicariously, and we enjoy sharing our experiences as move around from one wonderful locale to another. We are a little different in that our focus is sailing, so we tend to travel to different lakes and stay a month or more at a clip. We like to set up at a pleasant RV Park, ideally with its own marina or at least with one close by, rig our Catalina 22 sailboat and drop her in the lake in a slip at the marina, and then settle into our comfortable little lifestyle as we enjoy the sailing and meet other sailors and RV'ers to share stories with or a cup of grog :-)
