I have a 2000 Intrigue with this engine. It handles fine, climbs fine, no overheating issues. Mine is 36 feet. I do not know about the overloading problem, but when I had Toyo's I noticed the sidewall was about to come apart on that tire (starting to crack), and quickly changed to Michelins. I make sure I keep the front tires at 115 pounds.

We have a 1999 Intrigue 40' with the Cummins 8.3, 350HP and as far as weights go we have 5,650# driver side front, 5,100# passenger side front, 9,750# drivers side rear, 9,400# passenger side rear. The front is rated for 13,200# and the rear for 19,000 according to the label in the RV that was replaced in recall. As you can see I am over on the rear but these weights were done with the RV fully loaded, Honda Element attached and full tanks (water, fuel) and we usually don't run with the water tank full. You can also see the front is heavier on the driver side, we have Goodyear 275/80R 22.5 load range H tires on and at 100 PSI they are rated for 5,985# front and 5,530# for dual in rear.
I believe the 2000 models came with the IFS (Independent Front Suspension) so I am not sure if that changed tire sizes or the way the weight is up front or not.
As far as performance in mountains we have only been on the Eastern side of US so far and we have had no problems with climbing or overheating. We were running with friends in a Holiday Rambler that was 38' with a Honda toad, they had a CAT engine that was rated around 300HP (I believe) and when we hit the mountains we went right on by them while they slowed down quite a bit. He had his temperature go up and ours stayed right at the normal level.

I hope this information helps.

Friend I have the older 330hp on my 99 Allure 40ft. Droppinmg down to third in worse case climbing, having the wax temp fan control works flawlessly never went above 200 degrees I keep the RPM's at 1800 RPM to me the 8.3's power sweet spot. Also our Years coach I remember folks a few years back having them new had a overweight Issue on the Drivers front Tire! The Fix is Move anything Heavey to the otherside! Im was A filltimer for several years and as a X Cat rech. carried hundresd of pounds of tools, Filters and Parts Spares. Never had a weight issue. Hope this helps. Ken 99 Allure 30356.

I remember my ISC330 as being very dependable. Cummins had a couple of recalls i took advantage of.

They all increased fuel milage and drivability. Even when a temp/pressure sensor failed, which lead to

the fuel injection system being replaced under warranty, a big increase in performance was the result.

While traveling without a tow car and weighing around 31,500 and staying at or below 55 on the flat I

average close to 10.4 + mpg. But at normal speeds from 63 to 65 with 4000 lbs behind 9.3 to 9.0

was a normal result. There are a couple places that got me down to first and second gear. Going west

out of Jackson Hole. Climbing the passes from Durango to Silverton and Ouray. Heading east bound

on I70 from Grand junction to Denver can be a long hall, too in 3rd gear.
The Grape vine in California

North Bound and from Phoenix via the interstate to Prescott when its 110+ degrees is always a

challenge for the cooling system, just like climbing out of Indio Eastbound on I10. But the temps

normally stayed at 180 degrees with an occasional bump to 190+. I wish my ISL ran as cool, but

pollution issues and higher output require 15 degree higher temps all around. TWI 98 Allure 30255,
