04 Allure - Locked out of coach today. Alarm/Door lock sick...

Yahoo Message Number: 86900
Hi All - Hoping one of you can point me in the right direction...
We took a ride to enjoy the day by the San Diego bay. Went out to walk the dogs for a quick 'nature break'. Left everything but my cell phone in the coach. Including wallet and keys to the toad...
Locked the door normally on the way out with the FOB. And have been locking/unlocking the door with the FOB off and on for a few days as I've been working on different items.
10 mins later, going to get back in the coach and finish our first cups of coffee for the day - and the FOB would not unlock the door.
I have a key to the deadbolt, and that works. But, do not seem to have a key that will open the door handle lock.
Thinking the FOB battery might be getting weak, though I could see a green light as I hit every button - I had a friend come get me and picked up a new battery for the FOB. No luck, same thing.
I unlocked the electical panel access bay door below the driver seat. The alarm went off (good to know it is LOUD). Closed the door quick, and after about 45 seconds the alarm went off.
Ended up calling Coach Net (First time, and they were great to work with.), they sent a lock, who took about 60 secons to pick the door handle lock. Openned the front door, and the alarm went off. Did not shut off until after I closed the front door, about 45 seconds after closing the door. This seemed to have 'competed the cycle' as I can now open doors, and bay doors, with no alarm.
One thing I did notice, is the little red light to the side of the door was not on.
I can lock/unlock the front door with the deadbolt, and will until we get this sorted out.
It is a Crimestopper on the FOB, and going from memory (box of CC manuals is of course at home), a CS2xxx something.
Does anyone know if they alarm part in the coah has it's own battery that might need replacing? Or, if a stand alone fuse to the door lock portion exits, that may need reseting or replacing?
Sorry for such a long post, it's my nature, and wanted to try and give as much info as I could think of.

Best to all, and TIA,
Smitty

(Note: While locked out of the coach. The local Harbor Police drove by to inform us that no RV's over 30' were allowed. (We missed this on the sigh, and now know...) They were real nice about it, and said it was to keep people from living in the RV's on San Diego Bay's Shelter Island. Made me laugh a bit, as we see the same, well to be polite 'extensively used/needing TLD/gem in the rough' coaches parked on Shelter Island all of the time. Fist time we ever went in our coach. So OK for 30' and under to be on the island at all times - strange regulation. We even had nice 'local people' out walking stop by and want to be sure we knew that 'large rigs' were not allowed. The Harbor Police were very nice about it, and my wife told them we would move as soon as we could get back into the coach... )

I wanted to update that I went thru the bag of extra keys we have for the coach, and found one with blue tape and a note in my writing 'lower door handle lock'... My wife and I now recall that we had agreed to only use the deadbolt, for times that we did not use the FOB electric lock.. Had that deadbolt key on our FOB ring. Well, we have now added the lower door handle lock key to that ring..
I've had some PM's on different things to check on the electric part of the alarm, two or three suggested I look over the wire feed into the door first. We 'slam' the door with authority when closing it, to get the send 'catch'. May have knocked something loose...
Sure seems strange, as it locked with FOB on the way out... Then nothing when trying to open it, no sound at all. And again, the little red light is out showing it was armed. The alarm went off, so power was going to the main unit... I have the paper work on the Crimestopper model, and will start to debug this next week.

Best to all,
Smitty

Smitty,

Please excuse if I read your note wrong. I think you said that the outside LED out means the alarm is armed. I don't think that is correct.

LED blinking means armed.

LED Dark means unarmed but all contacts are open and prepared to arm.
LED lit means unarmed and at least one sensor is closed so the alarm will not arm.
I have had some problems with my fob just as you describe. What I have found is that a little tough love on the fob brings it into compliance. In other words a sharp rap with my hand seems to make it work. I seldom use the alarm or the fob as I don't trust them.

Hi George,

You read it correctly, and I wrote it wrongly:)! It is the:
Quote
LED Dark means unarmed but all contacts are open and prepared to arm.
It explains why the alarm went off, even though the LED was not on.
I'm hoping to get a day early next week, to take a good look around and see if I have pinched wires are a blown fuse that feeds the electric door lock portion. I've also now got my paper work for the Crimestopper, and will read it on setting options.
I'm actually glad this happened, at least so close to home and without the unknown of being say in a boon docking site. I was amazed at how fast the locksmith picked that lower lock, and have no reason to think the deadbolt part would not have been just as fast.
I also realized that for the last 2 1/2 years, I've been leaving the door a bit more easy to get into then I should have. Unless we decide to not arm the alarm (very seldom do we leave without doing this), we did not use the deadbolt. We are now going to start doing so, and also carry the key to both locks with us...

Best to all,
Smitty

We've had this problem with our FOB for years. One thing that does seem to help, is that once it is "acting up", hit the panic button on the FOB to set off the alarm and then the unlock button to shut it up. This sometimes resets the FOB and door to work correctly.

We too, put the lower door key on our keyrings! Pat & Herb
