Rear Axel Differential Fluid Seal Leak

My 2007 CC Tribute has just had a differential oil leak. Fortunately, we saw the oil on our driveway and did not drive it far. It could be a stopped up vent but I just took it to our local Kenworth CAT Truck Chassis repair center to be fixed....My question is how many of you have experienced a seal or vent failure like this? What do you think are the chances that the other rear axel sear will fail? If you are parked in a campground on grass or gravel and do not see the oil leak before you depart, how long will the wheel bearings last before the fluid totally escapes and they fail? Stupid question, I guess but this is the sort of thing you just don't anticipate when you buy a COUNTRY COACH with 28,000 miles on it.....Any advise or comment would be appreciated.

I had a differential seal leak as you describe in a SOB that I once owned. It was caused by a plugged up vent and did no damage to the seals at all. In my experience, an rear axle seal leak will take a very long time to drain the axle lube to the point where you will do damage. Others experience may be different.

Thanks, George....Turns out that Kenworth found that the seal was installed CROOKED causing the leak. They said it may have been like that from new but I found that hard to understand..Anyway, $467 later, it is fixed. Qnother case of being just below the $500 XtraRide extended warranty I purchased..Ha! Thank You for your kind response.
