Motorized tv antenna replacement

I have a 2000 Affinity purchased a few weeks ago. The tip of the Motorized tv antenna has been ripped off. I want to replace it but can find zero information on it. The mounts on the roof do not look like anything I have seen before (wingaurd/ sensor). The arms that go up are spread far apart. Does anyone know what brand this is or what replacement head it would take? The motor controller says Braund MFG. Co. inside the RV Would love to have it working by this weekend!

You have a Concord/Braund TV antenna. It is no longer manufactured but the manufacturer still has some parts. Unfortunately, the head is no longer available.
When I talked to them about a replacement, they suggested I go to Winegard. I've chased around looking for the electric antenna that Winegard used to make and cannot locate one. I've emailed Winegard but got now response.
I've replaced my antenna head with a Jack antenna. It meant fabricating a bracket out of 3/4 X 3/4X 1/16 aluminum angle to fit the existing legs of the Concord. The mount, raising and lowering all work fine right now. I've got a problem with trying to get power to the Jack's amplifier. Although I have voltage out of the Jack power supply, I get no voltage at the antenna. I'll have to spend some time trying to figure that out when I get settled someplace for awhile. The Jack does pull in OTA TV signals as it is and performs as far as I can tell as good as the Concord. I'm hoping that when I get power to the amplifier in the Jack that it will out perform the Concord to a considerable degree.

I replaced the Braund head with a Jack Antenna head.
I fashioned a bracket from stock aluminum and rivets purchased at Lowes. That step worked.
But....I removed the whole unit recently as over the past eleven years it was mechanically destroyed by tree branches on multiple occasions. We have seldom used OTA tv broadcasts so I have not replaced it.

I'm a little confused (which is not hard at my age)...Pete...U said that you can not get "POWER" to the antenna....I did not think the antenna "Jack" needed power...my instructions say take old one off...attach the "New Jack Antenna" and you should be good to go... Does it need something else....I have not tried to put mine on yet...but if I understand your statement... I need to fabricate something to make it fit. Any time I'm on the roof of the coach...my DW needs to be gone, because she knows I going to fall off. Or did I buy the wrong "JACK" antenna?? Thanks

You should have a small power injector module and transformer supply. Plug the transformer into 110 volt, plug its output into power injector. Connect one end of power injector to the control box for your tv input and connect the antenna lead from the Jack to the other end of the power injector.
I have power out of the injector but when I go up on the roof and try to measure voltage at the antenna, I get no voltage. There is also a red LED on the Jack that is supposed to light when power is applied to the antenna. My LED doesn't light up.
Are you trying to mount the Jack to your old Concord antenna legs? If so, you will need to fabricate a bracket as the one that comes with the Jack is intended for the Winegard 2 leg support.
As I mentioned, I fabricated my bracket out of aluminum angle since I had a way to cut the angle. Starting with a sheet of aluminum might be better, it certainly would be easier, if you have access to a metal shear and brake. My bracket is made up of pop rivets, 7 pieces of angle cut from a 48" length of angle and 2 bolts
The Jack also available with its own stand and, as I understand it, you rotate it just like you do the Winegard. But, on my coach, there is no handle coming down through the roof and the antenna is mounted on the passenger side of the coach and above the overhead cabinets. I didn't want to drill a new hole and move the antenna. I also wanted the antenna to be elevated higher above the roof when in use.
I did communicate with Dean about what he did. I was afraid I would have a problem with antenna instability going down the road but so far I haven't noticed that problem.

Dean, my Braund Concord head just broke off. The plastic where the rotating pins from the arms attached rotted out. Could please you send me a picture of the bracket you fashioned to attach the King Jack head to the existing arms?

Posted 3 pictures of the antenna bracket I fabricated to mount the Jack antenna on the 3 Concord arms. They are in an album titled "Pete's Jack Antenna Bracket".

Note the rubber stopper mounted on the bracket. I found that without the stopper, the lift arms would go over center when parked and the motor could not lift the arms.

The four V-cut-outs on the two central angles (best seen on the bracket bottom view) are to miss the circular protrusions and allow the bracket to set flush on the antenna. The four small holes near the V-cuts are the holes for mounting the bracket to the antenna.

The nuts on the 3 screws mounting the bracket to the lift arms are jam nuts so that the angles don't pinch against the lift arms.

The aluminum angle is 3/4"X3/4"X1/16". The total weight of the bracket and Jack Antenna is less than the head on the original Concord antenna.

Anyone familiar with 36' Magna 1999? no one seems to know how to access the fuel sender located on top of the tank. The front bay front wall is loaded with electrical equipment so I dont see any way short of dropping the tank. Any help from the forum? thanks, J.T. Shealy, Titusville, Fl.

Not sure about the setup on the 1999, but the battery compartment on the 1995 I have is right next to the tank. I pulled out the top two batteries and was able to crawl in and get to the top of the tank.

Hey Pete,

Good to hear from you. Saw your antenna mount pics, and I'm impressed. But I've wondered if these new antennas are actually better than the old style that you replaced? Did you do any sort of test before replacing the old one? I've been under the impression that the new style don't need to be rotated, but obviously that's the whole point of your bracket. Would love to hear your take on whether we should all be doing this?

Replaced my Concord because the plastic mounting tabs broke. Probably because I hit too many low hanging branches.

From my discussion with the Concord people, the antenna amplifier won't do you any good with the newer HD channels. I believe that is because the amplifier does not amplify UHF signals and that is where all the HD channels are located.

While I was getting power to the Jack, the signal reception was better than the Concord. Once I lost power to the amplifier in the antenna reception was mediocre.

Had Winegard still produced a motorized antenna I would have tried that one. My Concord was mounted near the passenger side and the penetration for the antenna is above my cabinets so there is no possible way I could use a manual antenna without drilling a large hole in the roof..

I've since removed the Concord parts and pieces and gone with a Winegard omnidirectional antenna. It's ok but not great.

Pete, I installed the Winegard Rayzar in place of the Braund on my coach. I find it to be the equal of the Braund in pulling in signals. It was an easy install in the same location as the old antenna. The Rayzar is fully automatic and sits only a few inches above the roof. I like it.

Rich, my Jack antenna bracket on the Braund was a success....for about 45 days.

An angry Tree ate that one also. So I stripped the Braund unit off the rig in 2013.

In 2017, I drilled a hole in the roof and installed the Winegard manual antenna. It works fine for us in a pinch. The Winegard lays nearly flat on the roof unlike the Braund did. So the trees have yet to find it.

Normally, the DW just watches DTV.
