Driving with A/C Operting

I would like an opinion on using the generator and coach A/C while traveling. If permissible are there any restrictions? Fritz 1998 Allure 30223

Start the generator, set the thermostat, enjoy the ride.
You may want to check the oil and water levels in the gen to be sure they are at proper level.

As long as you maintain your genset and the coach is moving I see no problems. I was in Indio when it was over 118 degrees and had to make sure the refer was on LP, that there were no other loads as the second air turning on would cause the genset to shut down. It turned out later that my genset radiator needed to be replaced as it was corroded. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

We've stopped using the dash A/C altogether. If weather requires A/C we run the jenny and turn on the whole house A/C - - much, much better. Try it.

My friends have done it a lot in tree coaches. I have done it once. My coach has ducting thatnismcovered when the slides are in. My friends have never had a problem and neither did I.

The rule of thumb I use is when the outside temp reaches 90 degrees I fire up the roof airs open the closet sliding doors and install door stops. to allow the cool air to circulate throughout the closet. It makes it easier when we arrive at our site to already have the closet over the engine cooled. In the old days when the bed was directly over the bed in the 98 Allure keeping the mattress cool so we could sleep without the air being on all the time at night was important. That's when I set 90 degree out door temp as the point to turn on the air. I always envied the Magna owners with the over the road rear air as they could maintain the rear of the coach with out using the genset. I had a flow meter on the 7 kw diesel genset on the Allure and used about .5 gallons per hour going down the road. The best guess I have now is about .6 per hour with the larger Airs and also running the larger fridge, etc etc. I remember one time I had the floor heat on while running the airs, the refer and my home theatre system for sounds. Of course the genset shut down.

We usually run the rear AC feeding the front lr with no problems.
