Tires 315/80/22.5

I know the tire subject has been visited lately, but I was just curious if anyone has put 315/80/22.5 tires on older coach. I have a 40ft 1998 Affinity without the tag axle, 455 hp C-12. I currently have the 295/80/22.5 michelins now, my data tag says original tires were 11R 22.5. I don't want to bother everyone with this subject over and over, I just wanted to know if anyone has the 315/80/22.5 tire on their older rig, and if it may fit on mine, I do have the 8.25" rim. Thanks for the insight. John

Carefully check the spacing requirements for your dual wheels. I have an 2001 Affinity and according to the published specs, the combination of the two 315s are just a half inch too wide ..........while they might work just fine, I chose to stick with the original tire size.

Even though ours is three yeas older than yours, I believe we have the same size tires, 11R22.5. I put on Michelin XZA3s five years ago, and have been very satisfied. Make sure you get the right load rating; single load is 6610#.

So, you are running 11r22.5 on your 95 captiva? I just bought mine and it has 295/80/22.5, I thought I had to go to the 7800 lb rating tire because, the problem they had with over loading the tires (you know the toyo problem) on the front, so I assumed I needed to go with the bigger tire 295/80/22.5. So you are saying I should be ok with the 11r22.5 if I go with the michelins? Thanks for replying John 1998 affinity captiva 5544

I hav the original brochure for our coach, and it came with 11R22.5 tires. The front axle gross weight is 13220 pounds, which corresponds to the sum of the max load on the tires. I run the front tires at 120psi, even though the factory recommended 115psi--better over than under! I'm on the road right now, but I'm pretty sure I have the brochure for a 97 Affinity, but I won't have access to it for a while. If you would like, I can look it up when I get home after our visit at Country Coach--they have a lot of work to do.

On my 2001 42' Affinity #5972 I had Michelin 12R22.5 H(16) XZE installed. This is the same size that came with the coach from CC. My original tires were TOYO. The Michelins seem to ride a bit smoother than the TOYOs. I got my tires thru the FMCA program and paid $629 for the 12Rs and $739 for the 315s. One never knows if they got the best deal available on a specific day.
