Off Road Capabilities of a Country Coach

I rarely stay at RV parks except in the winter. One of the great joys of my Country Coach is camping in the National Forest in dispersed areas off the grid in the wilderness. I have noticed that the ground clearance (at least on my 2002 Magna)is considerably greater that most other brands. Aired down my coach body is higher than a high end Monaco and other brands I have seen aired up. This allows me to access places via short dirt roads and into meadows that most other coaches would never be able to without damage. I don't do anything crazy and do not need to travel very far off-road, but I have been amazed at the obtacles this coach clears with no problem. Drop-offs from highways for example. Steep uneven hills. Depressions. I have never bottomed out. I have never had shock or suspension problems. This is a major consideration in a coach for me.

I agree with you Rich, but have one issue. The drive axle shocks on my coach have both been over extended and snapped the shock piston rods. Did not notice it until the tire change out when both shocks were just hanging there. The travel distance of the air bags exceeds the length of the shocks and there are no limiting stops other than the air bags. The shock mounting studs would have to be moved to accommodate a shock with a longer travel. There are nylon and chain limiting straps available, but nylon stretches and chains will break.
