Allure hydraulic fluid reservoir/filter

Yahoo Message Number: 88711
I'm still learning our newly-acquired Allure and comparing systems to the Winnebago Journey we had.
Does the large hydraulic fluid reservoir in the engine bay contain all fluid for fan pump, power steering and HWH slides? Also, how often should the huge filter attached to the side of the reservoir be changed? When I recently had the coach serviced at Cummins Coach Care, they looked at the sight glass on the reservoir, noted the bright red and clear appearance of the fluid, and suggested it did not need to be changed at this point. Also, when the filter is changed, does the filter need to be pre-filled with fluid?

Hello,

To answer the hydraulic fluid question. No, the reservoir in the engine bay covers the hydraulic cooling fan and power steering and anything else that is running off your PTO. The HWH hydraulic reservoir is housed in the floor of electrical bay under the driver's seat. To check that fluid level (Assuming you have 3 hydraulic and one electric slide like we do :-))the galley and bedroom TV slides have to be out and the bed slide needs to be in. The cap for the reservoir has a dipstick. I recommend using HWH hydraulic fluid - available in the camping world stores.
The only huge filter is the air filter on the left side of the engine bay. Not sure which one you are describing.
You should look at replacing the air dryer filter for the air system which is housed underneath but on top of the rear axles.
If you would like to send us an email with your phone number and a good time to call, Scott would be glad to talk with you. We are the original owners of our coach so we have some pretty good experience.

Best regards,

Marta

I will need to locate the reservoir for the HWH system. If I extend my genset out on it's slide out tray, I can see a removable panel in front of the electrical bay. That would give access to the general location you refer to near that driver's side electrical bay.

I have located my air filter and changed it. Cummins Coach Care changed the air dryer element. I do have a large, square hydraulic fluid reservoir on the right side of the engine bay next to the coolant expansion tank. There is a large line coming into the top of the hydraulic fluid reservoir with a large (maybe two quart) spin on filter. According to the shop supervisor at Coach Care, that is my hydraulic fluid filter. Based on the appearance of the fluid in the sight glass on the reservoir, he said it was not necessary to change it at this time.
I have read that some of these hydraulic reservoirs have filters inside them. Looking at this reservoir and the way the top is attached, I am thinking I have no internal filters and this large, in-line filter is what CC put on this particular coach.
I will email with my phone number.
thanks

You should check inside the electrical bay before removing the panel. My reservoir is inside the electrical bay; the reservoir is not very large.

Hi Gary,

The HWH reservoir is in the actual electrical bay (first bay on the driver's side). We will be at our coach tomorrow and will take a picture and sent it to you. It is small, maybe a foot square. It is black and under the solenoids on the floor in the back.

We will also send a picture of our solution for the door harness.

Best regards,
Marta

Roger, I did that and found it. It is smaller than I figured (based on the size of the reservoir on my previous coach). It is immediately behind the pump and manifold with the solenoids.

Thanks.
Gary
