HWH control panel (How does the Active System ...

When I traded my '07 Allure 470 on an '09 Foretravel Nimbus CE, I had them install Active Air as part of the negotiations. Several months later I was at the FMCA Convention in Madison and had an opportunity to speak to Paul, the owner of HWH, who was in the booth at the Trade Show. After praising all the attributes you mentioned, he told me that he designed the system for safety rather than a better ride. The real purpose of Active Air is to combat oversteer which causes the majority of fatalities on the Interstate involving RV's. The smoother ride is a bonus but the real purpose of Active Air is safety and I would not buy a coach that did not have it installed. Rod

Thanks to all three of you for sharing your experience with Active Air.
One last follow up question. Did they find a place for the added air tank without using part of a storage bay? If not, how much space did the tank take?

Hi Janice - HWH adds equipment and computers and controls to your existing air bag leveling and ride system in the coaches. The PDF above does a good high level overview. They probably made the existing leveling system for your coach, I assume so.
The Active Air senses what is going on as you drive, and rapidly controls pressure up/down to appropriate bags to help maintain your coach in a much more stable position. My main interest is for the improvements in Emergency Handling, as the rig will 'set and maintain it's composure' significantly better then the stock chassis will.
Reading other posts on Google by owners that have had it installed, other benefits include: -Adjustment of ride for heavy crowned roads. Adding pressure to the outside bags to 'level' the coach in relation to the crowned road.
-Less impact by passing trucks
-Less impact by shifting winds

-Many report much less needs to constant minor adjustments on the steering wheel, making for a more relaxing ride for the driver -Less leans in corners, as the system keeps the coach in as level a position as possible -Some report much softer rides, and yet better control - when needed
It is expensive to install, and yes, more things that can go wrong too. But, HWH has an earned great reputation for both excellent products, and making things right when/if needed.
One other potential downside, still trying to confirm this with other CC owners, is they do install an additional air tank (Pete actually had two tanks installed.). I'm trying to find out if this tank is located down out of the way in some cavity of the chassis. Or, if they need to use part of the bay storage compartments.
I may have missed some key points, but I keep picking up nothing but positive results for owners that have had it installed...

In our case, the additional air tank was installed in back of the right rear, not far from the engine. There is enough room for additional tank if required.

This is Rod. The way I understand the Active Air is that it is an upgrade to the existing air suspension system with the addition of a computer and air lines of a larger diameter. There is also a small illuminated Screen on or near the dash that allows you to dump the air when parking, lift or lower the tag, etc. Mine is also tied into a Glass Dash which gives me visual info on the tank pressures. As to your question about an aux. tank, it is my belief that it uses the existing air tank but in any case, nothing was put into any of my usable storage bays that I am aware of. I learned about Active Air when I asked what some of the folks would get on their next coach that they did not already have in the way of upgrades. The #1 response was Active Air.
