Yahoo Message Number: 90655
My control panel keeps showing the above warning. Were is the battery temp sensor? I have loooked in the battery compartment with no luck. Were are dry camping, batteries are cold to the touch and all seems to be working other then the battery charger only charges in Float mode. Having to run the genset a lot more then normal? Ideas?

Mike,

Check for either a plastic coated small item, with wire lead, attached to a battery post, or stuck to the top or side of the battery. You might want to go look at the Xantrex box, and follow the wires that go down to the battery area. Two bigger Red/Black of course to the posts. But a smaller probably 16ga wire should lead from the Xantrex to the battery. This will of course be the house battery, not chassis. Our 2004 era RV2012 (Or RV2014 - memory fuzzy - did not come with a Temp Sensor from Country Coach. So make sure you have one, and if not, check your controllers settings to make sure it is not looking for one. (That may not be good input, but thought I'd point out that not all CC's came with Temp Sensors with the Xantrex provided.)
Hopefully someone with a coach with the same unit, will give you more concrete input.

Best of luck,
Smitty

Is this a item that can be replaced? Raining to hard right now to go look?

I'd think it would be an easy change out. But once you can get down and look, be sure nothing as shook loose in the either the sensor on or attached to the battery, or wire from the Xantrex down. Maybe chafing caused a wire to sever, or it came loose from the Xantrex side.
You also might see if you have a full reset button on the Xantrex and see if that clears things.
But, I'm honestly a rookie on the things - and have no specific knowledge of your unit. We just swapped out to a Magnum Pure Sine Wave, so no more in one or two months with it, the after 2 1/2 years with our Xantrex and RC7GS remote... (It came pretty well set from the gent we bought it from, and the only time I played with it much was on the changeover to Lifeline AGM's. This where I found we did not have the Temp Sensor on our unit, though it was still available.)
Best of luck, and pleas close the loop back on what you determine the problem to be.

Rain stopped, found the sensor, all look like new and connected. Still have the W-9 warning. Did the reset on the front of the inverter, nothing changed. Everything seems to work, just keeps going back to the warning screen. Will be in Roseville Ca middle of the week. Have used former CC tech Harry Lockwood in the past...Still open for more ideas if anyone has any? Were at 8000' in the Sierra's dry camping at Silver Lake. The God's are mad, thunder and lightning big time....Sensor went out before the storm arrived...

Mike, I would just check that the sensor has a clean connection, take it off the post clean and put it back, also check for any wire breaks. If still a problem disconnect the temp sensor plug at the inverter. The inverter will now run with a charging curve based on standard temperature, 72 degrees I think. For a short time, couple months, that should not give you any real problems but replace it for the long term.

Mike, what size xantrex, I had a problem this spring with my 3000 xantrex, a different code but could not get it to reset, purchased a new magnum 2812. There is a site on the net that will give some support, Schnider elec, I think, not sure spelling is correct. Hope you have better luck with yours.
