2008 Alure 40' Hoodriver

After researching many models, we think a 2008 Alure 40' Hood River would be a good choice for us. If anyone has one, how do you like it and has the Cummins ISL 425 been good to you, etc... thanks,

We have a 2007 Hood River #31574 which we love but are offering for sale at https://post.craigslist.org/manage/3969688555. We have decided to buy a place in AZ and regretfully will be giving up our coach. It has been a dream. No major problems at all!! Have maintained it every year with general oil change etc All new batteries this past April. Might want to take a look at it. Bill Reese

John - We've got the 2006 model. The previous owner put on tons of upgrades. It has the Cummins ISL 400 of 2005 before they had connecting rod failures. That can be determined by looking at the engine serial number. Our story and bus have been chronicled here: www.muniac.com Overall we're comfortable with the layout. It's been home for the last 5+ years. Not real happy with service, repair and maintenance items.
All have issues and I think designs could be better in many areas. Some relief can be had by knowing these things up front. For example, slide leaks are reasonably easy to deal with and fix before the interior damage starts. Engine, hydraulics and radiator issues mean negotiated the cost of those repairs off the price, keeping the bread on the side and planning the repairs in a proactive way. It also helps to be handy. Our bus drives/handles extremely well albeit under powered. Not a big deal as you go easy up the hills and take your time. During travel days we run between 300-500 miles depending on locations. The average speed is around 60 MPH. And that's fine. Hit the link below to see things we've dealt with and also some perks we've found helpful.
Good luck!

Best - Scott
