California 299 from Arcata to Redding

I have a friend with a 40' SOB and we drive a 42' 2005 Intrigue. We were both wondering if anyone has traveled 299 from Arcata to Redding. I see from the CADOT site that motorhomes over 42' are allowed on the road. How scary is it?

We drove that road a couple of years ago in our 40' Intrigue. I really enjoyed it but it is a winding road that will get your attention. If you are not accustomed to mountain driving then I would recommend another route. Most folks advised us not to take that route but I would do it again. Take your time, go slow.

Hi Bob, this is a very pretty drive and not tough at all.. a few sharp turns.. but nothing to be concerned about.
May loose XM radio a few times and cell reception.. but that is it..
