Remote door lock

My remote front door lock stopped working yesterday. The remote key fob seem to have battery power as you can see the red light blink when you press the unlock or lock buttons.


Has anyone had this kind of issue with the door lock?

There might be a four conductor wire running from inside the door thru the jam to the control box. Where the wire exits the door to the jam there are some O rings to prevent water leaks. In my case they became hard and the wire PVC jacket became stiff . With the movement of the door caused the interior 4 conductors to fail. I removed the O ring in the door jam pulled out some extra slack from the door and to the control box under the dash. I used a razor knife to cut open the PVC jacket until I found the brake and re spliced the four numbered conductors. I placed the spliced section under the dash and did not replace the jam O ring. This allowed wire to move and not put tension on the PVC jacketed wiring. That was 7 years ago. I new more or less the brake had to be at the door jam location, and I could feel where the PVC seem to have a weak point and sure enough that is where the wire conductors had separated.

I get the messages in digest form, so I am not certain to whose message it is I am responding.

I had an alarm/remote lock problem with my 2004 Allure about two years ago. Nothing would work, even to fix it. I took the beast to a local, highly rated auto burglar alarm shop. It could not find the control module; The door was locking but the "chirp" was not happening (meaning the alarm function was not working). It would seem that the speaker had vanished, but where to look for it.
I called Jim Cooley at OMC, who immediately told me that the control module (and, presumably, the speaker) is mounted BEHIND the small, below-the-dash cabinet under the dash itself, ahead of the passenger seat. Remove the cabinet and, voilá (not viola, as some would write, and I played the viola, so I would know), there it was. Then it took only a few moments to fix the recalcitrant system.
Since then, I had the system go "berserk" on our recent trip, where the alarm would not shut off in spite of my greatest efforts with both remotes. This, I suspect, may be a battery and system reset problem.
It finally quit annoying the neighbors. Now, since the coach is in storage at the moment, and if anyone responding to this screed, I would be (am therefore, am) interested in hearing postulations about what causes this indiscreet behavior.
