Hurricane Heater will not shut down

Yahoo Message Number: 92779
Anyone know why my Hurricane Heater will not seem to go off? I have the coach in somewhat temporary storage, connected to 30 amps, all breakers are off accept the main 50 amp and the inverter so the batteries will continue to charge. the Comfort control thermostat is also in the off position and my water heater switches are all off. The Hurricane is not firing but there is a noise coming from the unit like a pump sound and I can't figure out why. We are currently having a cold snap here in northern calif. so I;m wondering if that has something to do with it. Any ideas??? Thanks

Mine has a thermostat in the water pump area which will turn the hurricane on if I leave one of the hurricane rocker switches on on the control panel inside the coach. That thermostat has a small knob on it where you can set it to prevent freezing of water pump. So if you have that rocker switch turned on, it doesn't matter whether the comfort comtrol is on or off. You can turn both rocker switches off but then you will not have the freeze protection for the water pump. At least that is how mine works. Your inside panel is probably different than mine, mine is located above the entry door.

Ray,|

Thanks, that's it .. I turned on the rocker switch for the main heat control and the heater fired. So it appears that it was trying to do what it's suppose to do but I had the rocker switch off. I do have a thermostat just like yours but I was thinking with all the breakers off in the panel that the Hurricane would not fire. . but since our temperature is now in the 20's it appears that it was trying to heat the plumbing bay. Thanks for your response . . i was in a bit of a panic since I didn't know what was going on. Randy
