slide rooms

None of my slides will retract. They don't even attempt to close. The yellow light is lit. When I depress the switch the red light comes on. I don't even know where to start. I reset the large slide rooms breaker in the battery bay. There are a couple of inline fuses close to the solenoids in the bay below the driver (one 20 amp and one 40 amp) that are both ok.

Had a similar situation and Kevin Waite had me do the following: First make sure you are level as possible. We turned off all electricity to the coach and switched the switches to off. I had to unscrew the HWH system at the dash and unplug the incoming electrical line to it. Waited a few minutes and reversed the process, except I left the HWH panel off until everything was back to normal. It worked and I was able to retract the slides. I think this is only one of many things you might have to try to get everything back to normal

Dennis,

Start the coach to ensure you have the minimum voltage required to retract the slides. If your batteries are low, the slides will not retract.

our slides have Type 2 Circuit Breakers that can fail. We bought extras from Kevin Waite. The breakers on our '04 Allure are: Buss 10 amp #22210-000 14 volt DC, K-41 Buss 20 amp #22220-000 14 volt DC K-31

my HWH control on the left side of the dash is held down by 4 screws (one in each corner). That is what I was saying. Once it comes off, there is one connection that is about 1" long and I disconnected it there.
Hopefully the picture I attached you will be able to see. Just to make sure we are talking/meaning the same thing.

On my 2000 Magna, there is a 15 amp fuse on the wire at the pump. I don't know if that fuse blows if you will have any lights working on your panel but if there is no noise when you try to operate the slide then the pump motor is not operating. My pump and of course the wiring to it are not in an easy to access location but I was able to work my way into the space and finally find the fuse.

Thanks, Dave. Will try this later today. It's been raining and chilly here in so florida so haven't had a chance to work on it. I've tried the really simple stuff like resetting the HWH switch, checking the ground from the motor, and others. I'll keep all of you updated and thanks for all the suggestions.

Well, I seem to be digging myself in a deeper hole. I did the reset by disconnecting all power to the coach and unplugging the connector from the back of the hwh leveling panel. When I hooked everything back up and tried to level the coach it wouldn't level. It raised the front because the led was lit up on the panel but it is obvious that the front is way to high. I'm wondering if it defaulted to some previous setting and if I need to adjust the sensing unit. I'm reading a hwh manual and it says the sensing unit adjustment is mounted inside the control box. The control box is mounted to the power unit/valve assembly. Does anyone have any idea where that is located on a 2006 Intrigue? The slides still don't retract.

We had a similar issue on our trip to Alaska in '09. An inspection showed that the black box HWH sensor (located in the front storage bay on the driver side) had come loose and was sitting on the things stored in the bay. Once we reattached the box to the roof of the bay all was well. Not a hard fix, but would have been easier for a very skinny contortionist.

Was this the cans that are stacked on each other and are covered with a piece of plexiglas? I found this in the 3rd storage bay on drivers side but I don't see how to do any adjustments from it.

Ours was attached by to the roof of the bay by 4 screws. The rough road loosened the screws and it fell down. We didn't do any adjusting, just reattached it to the roof. It was actually attached close to the center point of the bay, which made it difficult to reattach to the ceiling. That happened in Dawson City, but our repairs have lasted all the way home and quite a few thousand miles since.

Dennis, there should be a circuit board below the 3 silver cans with plexiglass that has - in our case it has 4 led lights. This is where adjustments are made. The picture is from a friend of ours. Look at the plexiglass, see the red light that has the wires going to it? Below that outside the plexiglass box you should see what looks like a circuit board. I am not much help after that, just know you find the screw by feel and it is adjusted with a screw driver.

I'd try applying 12 volts diectly to the pump to see if it works. If it does, have someone hold the retraction switch while the pump is running (with ignition switch on). The slides may/should come in. This will allow you to drive it to a repair facility.

Thanks to Marta and others for showing me where the leveling sensor adjustment is. I got it back to where it will level correctly. Now to do more work on figuring out the slides.

Larry, I may need to do what you suggested but will probably call Butch or Kevin to see if they have any ideas.

I finally caved and called HWH. I should have done it sooner. We came to the conclusion that the power center (box with the plexiglass cover) is in need of repair. I removed it (quite a job in itself) and sent to them for repair. We'll see how I do at installing it. It will not be an inexpensive repair. This motorcoaching lifestyle is not for the faint of heart! Thanks for all the advice and recommendations from everyone.

I received the power box back from HWH and reinstalled and all is well!! Ended up being a 79 cent relay. Of course the shipping and labor for someone at HWH to fix it brought the total to around $140 total. Still, I was very pleased that it wasn't the worst case scenario of $1800 to repair the box. Randy at HWH was very helpful at trouble shooting and answering questions I had.
