Musty Smell

We are experiencing a musty smell which I believe is coming from our over head heat ducts. As our coach sat all summer through the fall and when we took it out of storage (Dec 23, 2013) to come to Palm Springs we have been using the forward AC/heat pump. Could the ducting for the AC/heat pump be condensing thus causing the musty smell? If so what would be the fix for this? I have checked all the plumbing areas under shower, all the sinks and everything is dry. Also, where the hot water tank is, everything here is dry as well.

Any thoughts would be apprciated.

You might want to check by removing the air conditioner interior grill if there are any water stains on the wood frame. If you have drain hoses its possible the drain collection system, the drain pan or cups, that collects the condensation from the air conditioner coils have cracked or the hose failed depositing moisture on the frame or in the ceiling. When we were in Oregon one fall for six weeks we had to get a dehumidifier to control the humidity when running the heat pumps or hydrohot. With the air conditioners pulling the moisture out of the air with the dehumidifier in operation the airs cycled less often and didn't operate with as long cycles. Being an asthmatic high humidity can be a real issue for me especially with high tree pollen.

I had a leak this summer where the Kitchen sink spray nozzle hose connects. I have a bucket under the hose that contains cleaning products, but the water crept along the edge of the sink and dripped in the back corner on to the carpet. I had to jerry-rig a new o-ring to stop the leak as the Price-Phister o ring wasn't available. Then had to pull the carpet and hang it out to dry and then reinstall. Isn't RVing fun. I also had the problem. I've corrected the issue by removing the filter from the ceiling fixture and spraying and saturating the AC coils with 100% white vinegar, while the AC is running. Turn off the unit when done spraying and let it sit for a few days. The vinegar will kill the mold and should eliminate the smell. I've also used Lysol, but I prefer vinegar.

clean the AC coils. We had someone climb on the roof and clean ours.

Once they are clean, when you use the AC, we read that you should always have the fan on "low" or "high" setting... not on "auto" setting. This dries the coils to prevent the problem. Since we have been doing so, we have not had any more problems. On our AC thermostat, all zones must be in the same mode. All low, high or auto for our 2 AC's to function properly.
