Xantrex Error (Prosine 3.0)

Yahoo Message Number: 93662
After a bitter cold snap, I went to check on my coach (2005 Magna 630, a relatively new coach for me) and noticed all 12v house power was out. I still had 110v from my 50 amp shore connection, but the 12v systems (lights, SilverLeaf panel, etc) were out. I was able to start the coach, and the alternator powered up the 12v house systems fine. The SilverLeaf registered two errors - one was the low temp warning (it was roughly 3 degrees outside (but the inside of the coach was warm due to space heaters running off 110v), and the plumbing was 37 or so degrees.... it had dropped since the AquaHot had powered down without 12v power)... the other warning was on the inverter/charger which was not working. As the temperature rose, the cold temp warning went away, but I can't seem to get the inverter/charger error to go away. I've tried disconnecting all power (shore power, house batteries) and restarting, but I still get the error (a small wrench displays on the SilverLeaf). In the manual, the Xantrex references an Advanced Control Panel, but to my knowledge the only panel I have is the SilverLeaf. This Xantrex panel supposedly will give me an error code for trouble shooting. This is a relatively new coach - does anyone know if there is another Xantrex panel on the 2005 Magna, and if so where? I can't get the charger to turn on, and therefore can't bring the house batteries back up except via the alternator. Help!

Your Xantrex remote panel should be near your heating thermostats. On my Allure, the inverter remote panel is mounted just below my T-stats in a compartment in the hallway.

There is a reset on the xantrex itself. Hold the reset button down for a bit May have to do it twice if it starts back up. You can turn on the inverter and charger off from there as well . The other thing to do to reboot the system including the silver leaf. Todo this shut off the 12v disconnect by the door then go to the bay and hold the reset button on the xantrex until it powers down then let it go and go turn back on 12v while the xantrex is powering back up. This links the silver leaf back to the inverter/charger. I had that happen once and called silver leaf and that was what they had me do . Every fired back up and started working again. Worth a shot.

I have a 2000 magna w/o silverleaf, but thought I would relate my issues with the xantrex inverter. Open the compartment and place your hand on the inverter, also listen for a "hum" you should be able to tell if it is working. The A/C board failed in mine because a cheap little fan that cools the inside failed. I cleaned battery post, replaced batteries, etc. eventually I removed the inverter and carried it to an authorized service center where they replaced the A/C board and the fan. Cost around $500, coincidentally mine also failed in cold weather . Also I called Xantrex customer support, and while they tried to help me trouble shoot over the phone we were not very successful.
Good luck,
Mike

Hey I see people telling you where the the remote panel is that don't have magna's, It's part of the silver leaf system. The magna is a whole different level from the other cheaper coaches. That's why I was telling you to reset the system. If that dosnt do it ur charger my be out. The charger and inverter run separate. So one can burn out and the other will still work. Also ur silver leaf won't work if the batteries are below 35%. U may have to charge them manually before u can get the silver leaf to reset and remove the codes. Only way to reset the silver leaf is to cut power 12v power but it needs to have a good charge

Michael,

I don't know if this will help, my similar problem was, I inadvertently shut off the power switch on the generator, gave me similar problems. That gen on/off will shut down if trying to start if all power sources are not off at the thermostat then allow gen to run a bit till you see the gen power is accepted, then turn on draw one at a time.

I'm hoping I explained it correctly?
