Carefree Eclipse Patio Awning Auto Retraction Upgrade

Greetings campers!

The anemometer on my Wind Smart auto retract system lost the battle with the tree branch. Two cups just doesn't get it.
In searching for a replacement, I learned that Carefree has abandoned the wind sense system for a motion detector - "Direct Response Auto Retract System".
Has anyone performed this upgrade? Any unforeseen problems with the installation? Does it work well?

I appreciate your advice!

I don;t know, however, if you come up with a solution be sure to let the rest of us know. It could happen at any time.

I abandoned our windsmart system completly. Had the inside rewired so the extend/retract button works manually. Do not need windsmart.

My 2008 Tribute 260 has the Carefree awning that does not utilize the anemometer system to measure the wind speed, but rather, has a sensor located in the extended end of the awning that measures the vibration level as the wind increases, and when the vibration (shaking) reaches a predetermined level, with the control selected to "Auto-Retract"?, will enable the awning to retract to avoid damage. It seems to function quite well, and has retracted a couple of times when I had forgotten to do so when leaving the coach and experiencing increases in wind while gone. Thus far, I am quite happy with the system. You can test it by extending your awning, and then simply shaking the extended end where the geared motor is located (front end on my installation) and watching the awning retract.
